I have this offer to work for United Kingdom. I am from Philippines and haven't experienced working in another country before. If in case I would pass the interview, I have the opportunity to travel in UK.
In preparation, I would just like to know how's living in UK? Are basic commodities expensive in UK? How much is a house rental and what are the expensive items in UK?
Anyone here who can give me an insight on how to live in UK?

I spent only 45 days in the UK in 2007 as a holiday....i could say that it is a little expensive than other countries in Europe which i visited. House rental could also vary depending on the district that you will stay. I didn't stay in London, I visited the Northeast until Scotland. There were Filipinos who are accepting bedspacers, if I am not mistaken, I think that's around GBP 200/- per month that time or GBP 100/- I don't exactly remember. Though commodities are expensive especially clothes, you will still manage as your salary would be able to cope up unlike in the Philippines with very less salary and everything is expensive.

Hi hexebella.
Thanks for being so helpful. I hope my application will get approved. I know some friends working there and they told me that life is a lot easier there compared to staying in our country. You see, I have been working for 13 years already and though I am now a manager, still the pay is not so good. My salary is relatively low and my family's getting larger.
Wish me luck. I hope I'll pass the interview. Have a nice day!

I wish you not only luck but I wish you all the best snowhybiscuis. Of course it is much much much better to live there than in our country. You will be paying more taxes but still you will benefit out of it. You just have to bear with their very bad weather, but it's ok as living would be better, after some time you would be able to take your family as well. Cheers!
