Do we really need MORE surgery on demand?!

http://news.yahoo.com/too-posh-push-more-c-sections-demand-uk-074111512.html British women will now have the 'option' of planned c-sections without a medical reason. Why are we doing this to ourselves? I understand completely if there is a medical reason, complication, or emergency, but these people who spend the GOVERNMENT'S money in favor of a c-section because they just WANT one? I think they should pay for it themselves unless there is a medical necessity or emergency. I also believe the same in other countries, the US for example. I actually have NO problem with people who choose this IF they pay for it themselves, out of pocket or it's approved by their private insurance. I just don't think that the broke governments and the health care programs which are funded by taxes from the public should have to pay MORE for someone else's 'choice' which wasn't a need. Would you choose to have a c-section if you didn't need one and want the government to pay for it?

most women have them so that once the baby is born they can have a tummy tuck. I think that people should pay for it themselves is they want to have a c-section for that reason.

LOL! I didn't have a tummy tuck, although I might look like I have I'm proud of my hard work getting back in shape. To someone who never saw me before, they probably think I look like I've never had a baby. I can tell but.... I doubt I'd ever want to be cut or stitched.... it takes longer to do it on your own but in my opinion it is less painful and includes no scarring! Plus you get healthy, I've never heard that having a tummy tuck makes you healthier lol. I actually wish that some doctors would do a tummy tuck with a c-section, at least for moms who were done having kids I think that would be a nice little donation they could give that would make moms appreciate what they do a little more!

Oh no...I had a friend that had a c-section because she needed one and she had a much harder time recovering than I did when I had mine naturally. I wanted the meds but I was to close to having them to be allowed..lol. I know that wasn't the point though...it was the government paying for it and if it is not needed, I think it should come out of the chooser's pocket too.
