In the first test against West Indies, off spinner Ashwin and pace bowler Umesh Yadav are both making their debuts. Given that the Windies have a dodgy batting line up and the pitch in Delhi is a dicey one with variable bounce, it is a good chance for both Ashwin and Umesh to show what they can offer at this level.
What is your view of these debutants?
Cheers!

Well I do not think Umesh Yadhav is test match player and that too on Indian pitches. But selectors have other ideas and selected Umesh Yadav and he is making debut. I hope his performance help India in this test series. Ashwin should have played in India team long back and he is future for India. Only Harbhajan's recent bad bowling form and his injury helped him to get into the Indian test side. As first test started and Ashwin has bowled very well. Umesh Yadav bowled economically but did not take any wickets. Praveen Kumar should have been in the team may selectors wanted to rotate bowlers, so that they stay fit for important series. I hope in the second innings, Yadav pick up the wickets.

I think both the youngsters made a decent start to their careers. Ashwin actually made a terrific start by taking 6 second innings wicket. That augurs well for India's spin bowling department. Umesh got his first wicket in this test match on a pitch that is not really suitable for fast bowling. So that is also good in a way to build the youngster's confidence.
Cheers!

Both are lucky to get their debuts in home ground. I don't expect much from Yadav but Aswin has a good chance here. Today he already took 2 wickets. I think in the 2nd innings he would be the main wicket taker.
