I think the best thing the 4th gen has is multitasking. you can open pandora radio, then go use safari. iphone 4 also has background images, facetime (video chat), itouch 3g is the same as 2g but only for the 8 gb. the 8 gb itouch 3g is just itouch 2g with ios 3 software. once you hit the 32 gb or 64 gb however, 2g and 3g are different models, with different hardware, therefore will run at different speeds
