Earlier I was watching (not fully watch it 'though) the 2011 Miss World pageant. I was so happy that our very own Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais has been crowned First runner-up on the said pageant.
While the equally beautiful Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos bagged the title for Miss World 2011 and Miss Puerto Rico Amanda Perez claimed the 3rd place.
I was just really confused because Miss Philippines was called for 2nd runner up and I was waiting for them to call who will get the 1st runner up title. But none was called the first runner instead they have announced the grand winner already. I was thinking someone who was left there with Ivian will have their places in the competition too. And when reading news articles online, Philippines was said to be the first and Puerto Rico the second.
Maybe I just don't watch too many pageants before.

Wow that's really nice being winning that... and 900$ is not something I would hate to get when I'm actually doing nothing but still managed to get the crowd pleased with me
I did not watch the whole pageant as well because it runs like 2 hours or I don't know how long really Just waiting for the highlight of it most of the time.. like the Q&A or the crowning

Gwen was really beautiful during the pageant.She kinda looked a little different in the pageant than how she looked in philippine tv.
She deserves to be in via place because she is so intelligent,beautiful and tall.:)

I agree with you ferb, she seem to look different in the pageant. Maybe her hairstyle has something to do with it. But still happy that despite the change of looks we noticed on her, she still got the 1st title.

Yes, Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais is the first runner up and also the 2nd princess in the Ms. World 2011. Being first runner up and 2nd Princess are one and the same. Unlike with other beauty contests such as Ms. Universe where they choose 5 candidates who will become 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 2st runners-up then the winner who would be crowned Ms. Universe, Ms. World Beauty Pagent chooses only 3 candidates who will be called 3rd Princess, 2nd Princess and the is Princess who is also the winner or the Ms. World. So it is actually the Ms. World, with her two runners-up only.

to me like these contests and watch them because there really is only good girls are beautiful.
and sometimes for me no matter what happens just like all my.

there was a period when Indian beauty were winning the race and now its the era oh Philippians beauty.my heartiest congratulations to you as your miss won the crown.i don;t have a personal interest in these kind of ceremonies and i don;t remember if i have watched one recently.i get to know about the winner through news channels.

Yes I remember Sushmita Sen who won the crown in 1995, if my memory serves me right that - that was held here in the Philippines.

yes yo are right my dear.era started from there.same year aiswarya rai got the title for miss world and diya mirza got the title of asia pecific.then after we had a series of miss world and miss univers titles for or country.
now i don't see any recent win to our country.

I was not able to watched the pageant but also check the net and I am so proud of our country for winning one of the most prestigious beauty and brain pageant.
I am not fond of watching beauty pageant,but always try my best to be updated with the result.

The emcee called Miss Philippines 2nd place and not 2nd runner-up.
