Over a year and a half ago I started eating seafood, eggs, and dairy along with vegetables and fruits as my main diet. It helped me feel more healthy and I also lost weight with it. Over time I would try some of the other meats I had left out. I can do okay with poultry (chicken, turkey, etc.) once in awhile and beef or pork sometimes as well. The beef and pork have become too heavy feeling when I eat them now but I would rather have them once in awhile than to feel deprived from the tastes of the foods I grew up with. Poultry works well with me as long as I am still sticking mainly to the seafood and veggies and fruits. One night I was watching one of my favorite cooking shows, either Master Chef or Hell's Kitchen, and they mentioned the word "pesceterian" diet. When it was explained, it was the kind of diet I had been eating of seafood, vegetables, and fruits, along with eggs and dairy. I had no idea until then that there was a name for this diet. I sometimes get off this diet and find it hard to get back to it. But I do know that if I am off of it for very long, I don't feel as well physically or mentally as I do when I stick to it more faithfully. It may not be for everyone. I could not totally give up meats but this is a nice, lighter way of eating healthier foods that help me feel better and lose weight. Is anyone else following a pesceterian diet?

Hmm, I have never heard of this diet. However, it sounds pretty interesting and something I think would be easy for me to do. Currently, I am unable to go on any kind of diet because we are currently struggling to get any foods. So, I have to eat what I can get. Later on in life, when we can afford to buy the foods we want, I plan on getting mainly fruits, vegetables, and dairy. I do not really like to many meats all that well, but I love seafood. Especially shrimp, perch (fish), and fried oysters! So, a Pesceterian diet sounds like it would suit me quite well. Thanks for sharing, I never heard of this diet before. I am happy to have learned something new today!

Thanks for responding. I am glad I was able to give you information you had not heard before. It was new to me as well. I do know how hard it is to buy healthy foods on limited incomes. There have been many times I have had to get by with what I could get from food pantries so I know what you mean by having to eat whatever you can get and be happy with that. Good luck to you. I am sure you will make it through this rough time in your life and come out on the other side and do well.

Thanks! I really hope things get better. If they don't, I don't know what we're going to do. This economy is just horrible in the US. We need more help for the poor, and more jobs!

I love egss and dairies, I really do, but, everytime my boardmates see me eating such, they will warn me that it consist of fats and cholesterol, and it will made me really fat, so, I keep my craving for this foods, but now, that I heard this, I will not bother anymore, having this Pesceterian diet match with daily jogging habit and dancing sessions, I know I will gain a positive result...Thanx thanx capirani!..

Been thinking about going on a Pesceterian diet. I've been a vegetarian for five years, and I actually gave up fish first. I became a vegetarian because I have no love for meat! Whatsoever. I DON'T feel deprived now that I don't eat it, and NO I do NOT want bacon when I can smell it cooking and hear it sizzling. I don't miss it at all. Only been thinking about going Pesceterian because I know (because of a certain health problem in my family history) that it would be in my best interest to be consuming much more Omega-3. Fish is the richest source of omega-3, and for the quantity that I need, flaxseed and eggs probably won't cut it. I don't really want to be taking dietary supplements, and there's some doubt as to whether or not said supplements are all that effective. Problem is... I hate fish. lol Like I said, I gave it up first... and I gave it up with EASE. I haven't missed it one bit.
