Ladies. Have you ever celebrated your debut? How was it? For the moms out there, do you intend to throw a party for your daughter's debut?

Mite be a bit different for us in austraila. We have a deb ball once a year, in each town as such. The girls are 16-17 yrs old, and they do 4 or so formal dances. It's about the only other time they are dressed in white, as my mum put it when I did mine. We're going on the meat market, as we are of age to get married back in the old days. I did not have a party but did go out with my deb partner his g.f., his bro inlaw and sister and a friend of mine. It was a good nite out.

I have never experienced anything like this. I am not sure at what age that you do this. I know that at 16 we have given our girls a special gift. But no I would not do anything to promote my daughter to anyone.

i did 10 years ago and it was lovely.. i had 18 candles, 18 roses, 18 bears, 18 words of wisdom.. a cotillion dance and yummy 18th bday cake.. i believe that people should celebrate their 18thbday in a marvelous and enchanting way.. it will leave good memories to cherished forever..

Hi Grace, If there is anyone here want me adopt their baby girl or rather if I will find baby girl to adopt, yes of course I am very much willing to give her a debut party. How I wish to see my daughter dress in beautiful gown, dancing with her papa and I enjoy watching those of dancing cotillion and the giving of 18 roses, but those are only wish and I know could not fulfill anymore because I have no daughter what I have is 3 boys.

What is a debut party? I never heard of that. We celebrate every birthday, examn at school, etc etc. What more should one celebrate?

hi grace! unfortunately because of some financial difficulties during that time when i am turning 18 i didn't have the chance to celebrate my debut but given the chance to go back and celebrate it then i would probably spend my birthday like a charity type. why? aside from the goodness that i could share to the people i am really scared of a lot of people. no not that i have a phobia but i think i am just a bit paranoid when all eyes are on me. but in the future if i would be blessed with a daughter then absolutely i will throw her a big party on her debut.
