how to get some great task for our student?helps me..!!

this semester, english class material is reading.. I had found the material content about reading...and in the class i had formulas.. But i want to give some task for my student in their home for making their english is better and better?? any solution for me?? i want to give them task but not boring for them...i want them enjoyed when finishing their task in their home... sometimes i want they make some research, i just some of them make a list of economics words because they are student of economics high school, sometimes i think want them make presentation video when they show their oral ability.. wanna the best for them?? give me opinion as soon as possible because the class is tonight...

Well giving a task in english could range from a simple reading task to reading a book and writing an easy. Like I said in a previous post, it has to be something that will be interesting to them. Also, give them something to strive for like a reward of some kind. English is not an easy language to learn, so it has to have something to it. Maybe word identification or something.

yes, began from easiest task until the hardest task..every moments they must to speak english day by day..they must too read and write every new vocabulary..

Thats great. But give them an incentive for doing a good job. Like I said, a reward or an award.

May be you can give a challange regarding some topics. Such as, why cooperation (koperasi) in Indonesia can not grow better tahn in Europe. What solution can be made. May be it is cliche, but it is nice to hear from others. Or a task regarding online bussiness? It will atract them much when they can gain something. Mylot can be their practice ground also. Hopefuly it can give some idea.

sometimes i need some of them become mylot member for increasing their vocabulary etc..but i think i must ask my boss before deciding the task like that... wow..but i mean, the task every week in their home..

Oh I see, a long time ago, my teacher told me to translate an article from popular magazine (like Time) and discuss it everyweek. But I am not sure current student can bear the task like that. Moreover, if it is group task, there is always one that do not do anything. I will post if found some more idea.

I think you should make them do a presentation on how they can improve the economy. Don't make a video presentation though. Make them think of creative ways on how they can present it without doing video.

what do you think that presentation video should not be done by them?? do you feel that it`s not effective for them?? i mean by video presentation, they show me how their speaking ability.. but the video can be used by their sister and brother in campus..

Well, I think reading is one of the difficult part of english lesson.We must familiar with many vocabularies and understand the contents as well. Maybe you can send reading material by email or create one dedicated facebook group for your class. I believe everyone should have facebook account nowadays. So you can give them a task as individual or a group via facebook. Learning in this cyber era is much easier than our era, we just can source and do research from internet. Almost every subject we can found, especially those economic subject their will be huge database out there.

in the first semester and second semester, i always push them bring their dictionary and i always give them reading and they must translate one by one.. and i teach them how to translate well...don`t make translate one word but must understand the whole meaning... so they must always remember irregular verb, regular verb and adjectives word..

i am an english teacher in solo city, indonesia. i recommend you take ask you students to read atext, article, komic, or book. remember, more they read, more they know. always consider the grade before picking up the text

iam in kendari wulania..nice to meet you...the problem is we are lack of source like that(comics, book etc)..yeah, more they read, more they know.. more they practise, more their english ability is better... what do you mean consider the grade??i didn`t understand
