Budol Budol Gang and Their Power on Hypnotism

To my Filipino friends. Budol Budol Gang is on hype especially this season. I have heard so many stories about them and i was told that they have the power to hypnotize people in giving away their money. Yesterday, my boss' friend was tricked by Budol Budol Gang and was nabbed with Php60k and his cellphone. Not only that, the Budol Budol called all the people in his contact list and reported that his spouse had a heart attack and needed money to bring her to PGH. Everyone on the contact list got frantic as well such that they also gave money to the Budol Budol gang via Smart Padala! Friends. What must we do to avoid these people? How do we know that we are being hypnotized or tricked already? How do we come around from the hypnosis?

The best defense against hypnosis and prior hypnotic induction is to not talk to people you don't know, at least in places that have high foot traffic (e.g. malls, roads). Some might think that it's a bit snobbish to do so but prevention is still the best kind of cure. Here are some tips at the top of my head: 1. If someone asks for your help, or asks questions, just lead them to the nearest security guard or information center and be on your way. 2. If you really have to talk to a stranger, don't look at his or her eyes. 3. No handshakes -- there's a very effective technique called handshake induction that could put you under hypnosis just by a simple handshake. 4. Maintain a safe distance when talking to a stranger. Don't let the person touch you in any way; again, hypnotic induction can be done just by a simple touch on the collar bone or on the arm. Be safe everyone!

hi Grace, I would just like to clarify certain things, "budol-budol" is a scam that asks a victim to give them money but he would leave you wads or bundles ("budol") of money that he will say is guarantee in case he does not come back that would later on turn out to be cut directory pages or newspaper with only the outer part being genuine money, although most victims would claim that they were hypnotized, sorry to say but most were victimized because of their greed of the "budol" I think what you are referring to is the "dugo-dugo" (blood, blood) scam, it preys on people's panic that some friend or family member met an accident or in this case had a heart attack and would ask the willing victims to bring money or jewelry to them in order to pay for the hospital bills or whatever expenses, again some would say they were hypnotized, but again it is lack of alertness and an effort to check facts and again sorry to say that at times it is plain stupidity . Most victims here are usually house maids. What should we do? I think we have to be alert most of the time and control greed especially if we are being offered something that is too good to be true.

i agree with you..i think these people know much of psychology since they know how to fool people, haha! and they really know how to convince the victims, talking bout sales talk eh? or perhaps they've been stalking their victims. Let's just be alert at all times and like our mother always remind us. Don't talk to strangers!

I think the only thing we should do is to always have presence of mind. Try not to talk with strangers and most especially INQUIRE before taking actions. Always ask around and make sure that you have the right information. Further, don't keep money close at hand so that nobody can take it from you. One good example would be to keep cash limited and leave some cards behind. Not to mention that you should lock your phone. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Yes,my auntie was also a victim of these group last year. She was also robbed with a great amount. They were able to let her withdraw a good amount from her Atm. The best way is to avoid looking at their eyes. If talking to a stranger, avoid their eyes and if possible, just tell them to ask from any police or guard for help.

Sad to admit but they are really rampant in this season.Haven't experience to be hypnotize so I really don't know how to deal with it and hopefully it won't happen to me or to anyone.
