It's crazy how a lot of people like me pursue post secondary education after high school at a community college, university or online university only to end up with several degrees and no job. The way that Sallie mae loans are set up.. most of the time they are deferred until 6 months after graduation. If people are still not able to find jobs and cannot repay these loans... end up filing bankruptcy in which the only thing that never erases is student loans... how in this corrupt setup... can an average full time student turned college graduate survive post graduation???

Years ago, when things were cheaper, one of my fraternity brothers had to join the air force to delay paying off his college loans.
Something else to worry about, as if you didn't have enough, if congress doesn't act, the tax deduction for student loans will go away in 2 years. The tuition deduction will go away in 1 year and lifetime learning credits will go away in 2 years.

I am thinking of enlisting in the Air Force myself for the same reasons. So scared to go.. but feeling as if I don't have any other choice..

I think that the most important thing that someone can do when they go to college is to make sure and keep the amount of loans that they take out in check. That way, you are not buried in a mountain of debt before you even have the opportunity to get started in the world.
Though I agree with you that the system is corrupt, there are several things about it that have been helped in the past several years like the income based repayment plan and also the different loan forgiveness programs.

That's what I think is happening to me. I am being buried in financial aid debt so that I don't even have a decent start at life... I hate America.

I think if the aim of a student to pursue post secondary education is to get a job then he/she must find a course of study that would guarantee job placement. Find a course of study that offers internship and this way the student would have some experience in the job as well as be able to network with those in the industry. This way once the student graduates, it's easy to find a job. Instead of pursuing something with no future for landing a job.

That may very well be true. But even jobs that are in high demand don't pay much because they are in high demand. You can pursue something along those lines or something you love and go to school for years and you're still not guaranteed a job after graduation. These are factors that are now unavoidable. It depends on other factors mostly now such as location or "who you know" rather than "what you know". They want people with experience... but won't hire people to acquire the experience that they require. It is backwards..

Well, it is not easy to answer this question. The one thing that you rightly pointed out is that in fact, interest rates on loans are very high, even here in Italy.

I think it's crazy!! Interest rates are ridiculous and variable meaning that they can change at any time.
