OK, seems like you know pretty muc h what you need to know. You need to visit http://passport.gov.in and that will tell you everything you need to know. You can use the TATKAL service if you need the passport in a hurry. They will expedite the passport application time if you use Tatkal Service. Tatkal Service cost the same amount of money as the passport. As in if the cost is Rs. 2500 for a 10 year passport, Tatkal will cost you Rs 5000. Most of the Regional Passport Offices will only take your application if you have already filled the application online. You can fill the application online at http://passport.gov.in/pms/OnlineRegistration.jsp After you filled the form online and submit it, you need to take a print out and submit that along with all relevant documents to the Regional Passport Office. Now, as far as documents is concerned, you need: 1. Proof of Address: Any one of Applicant’s ration card, certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head, water /telephone /electricity bill/statement of running bank account/Income Tax Assessment Order /Election Commission ID card, Gas connection Bill, Spouse’s passport copy, parent’s passport copy in case of minors. (NOTE: If any applicant submits only ration card as proof of address, it should be accompanied by one more proof of address out of the above categories). 2. Proof of Date of Birth: Any one of Birth certificate issued by a Municipal Authority or district office of the Registrar of Births & Deaths; Date of birth certificate from the school last attended by the applicant or any other recognized educational institution; or an Affidavit sworn before a Magistrate/Notary stating date/place of birth as per the specimen in ANNEXURE ‘A’ by illiterate or semi-illiterate applicants. That is all you need. You need your identity proof and age proof. Important thing to remember, You need to say that you have been living in the same address for 2 years or more If you cannot do this, you risk being rejected a passport. Police Verification: You don't need to worry about this. After you submit your application, the Passport Office will forward it to the Police Station nearest to you, who will then send a Police Officer to your address making sure you are who you said you are and that you are actually living in the address you mentioned in your application. Normal Passport Application take 45 days from the date of submission of the application. Tatkal scheme takes about 20 days. You can choose to have the Passport sent to you, or you can collect it in person from the Passport office.

I am just saying that as an example. The website will be right. I was just trying to say that Tatkal scheme costs more than the normal. You pay extra to get the passport earlier than normal.

I think applying for passport should not so hard in anyway though it depends on the country your are applying from. In my case, I just brought my birth certificate, other identification documents, filled a form and paid. Within few weeks I had my passport.

i went to the passport office with my father, there we went to get details regarding the passport . There we saw a person who is blind and deaf,he had a machine at his ear so that he can hear us. He tried helping us out.Giving details about how to get a passport .He was good at his knowledge.Very good at customer service. And very much having patience. He was loud and clear.I felt really happy to see gods mercy . okay coming to my passport thing, i have a pan card which can be used as a identity,i have my matric(which is equilent to tenth standard) which can be used as my birth certificate prrof. i hav my education certificates till Mcom so i will put them also. For address prroof i have a voter card, but the problem is the address does not matchup to the present home we are in. For bank statement i dont have monthly transaction so that is one problem. He said that to take a joint account with my fathers bank as he has montly transaction done but its a pension account so my father said may be becasue his is pension account in SBI they will not give a joint account to me. So the person said i need to get these documents and make a registration at www.passportindia.gov.in and create a userid and pwd. Then upload the documents .Wait for an "number" from the passport office. Then in the evening from 6 pm should try to enrol for appointment giving this number so tht i get an appointment date. Then i shoudl go to the passport office and pay the money to get the passport. Its such a long process. He said about MRO stamp on my photo ,he said about verification with police, and notary ,these all becasue of the adress proof problem . we dont have a ration card, nor a telephone bill as we use WLL phone of BSNL .We have a electricity bill but the house is rented. SO i am not find ing it that easy. And just worried.

Wow. It seems like it is abit hard to get a passport in your country. Just chill around and Iam sure you are going to find someone from India who have a passport. In my country, we do not go through that long process.

For address proof, go to a Notary Public. Get a notarised affidavit of your address. That is the easiest thing and approved by the Passport office. It has been awhile since my passport application, so I am not sure how much things have changed. As far as I'm aware of, and the practice in Jaipur, is that you fill the application online, then book an appointment for the day that you want to go to the Passport office. Then turn up bright and early on your appointment date as the queue can get really really long. Make sure you have all the documents ready for submission. Even one tiny mistake, they will not accept it and send you back at the end of the queue.

passport - identity document issued by authorities
yes my friend , only when we have a question and need we come out with a topic and we need people to support and guide us, so its good to have a number of people around us and be friendly to all, because every person is having some or the other information , so that it can be helpful to some one who is in need for it.

Now a days it is very very easy and less troublesome to get the passport. Go to the passport office of your city and they will provide you all the required details. I have seen that these people are very co operative, they tell us politely what are the paper work and proofs required, once all the details are provided then their procedure starts. They use to inform you from time to time what is required and when. You just have to follow their instructions patiently and one fine morning the pass port is in your hand. Best of luck and a happy new year to you.

passport - How did this name come ? "Pass port"
yes its easy but however unless we have all the necessary documents to get the passport we would not be able to apply for it. Its easy if we have all the documents which the passport office asks for.For me because i dont have an address proof ,nothing in my name i did not get a passport for a long time , there after i got some bank statement with transaction of sixmonths or more and then went to some officers to get a residential certificate and then i got this passport. Its not easy . Now everything is been computerised so eveyrthing works in one or two hour but only the late thing is the documents and verification . Happy new year.

Here in mexico, you go to the embassy for the country you want to visit. Every country has different rules on how to obtain a passport. Merry xmas to you there.....
