Spare parts- human organs can now be grown in the laboratory.

It is reported that scientists have been able to discover different ways of growing spare parts for humans ; at least three organs-the bladder, urethra and windpipe-have been grown in the laboratory before being implanted into patients in clinical trials. Research has begun into replicating, among other organs, the liver, heart, kidney, pancreas and thymus. If it becomes a reality, then I think the hazards of organ transplantation can easily be avoided. But what’s about the cost? Would it be possible for a vast number of people who actually need this facility to afford the cost? I think the government as well as various voluntary organizations should come forward and work hand in hand to help those needy patients who find it extremely difficult to afford the cost. What’s your opinion?

Oh, really? Well, it's amazing. But it is not fun at all. It's not good news either. On one side, it looks like it can help us, humans. But if you are a religious person, it's not good to hear that. It looks like, we humans, are trying to compete with God with His ability to create life.

We, humans, have been trying to compete with God with His ability to create life from time immemorial. So it is nothing new.

Well, it is definitely true that the cost of organ transplantation is high as it is and the expenses of people that have had organ transplants go on for the rest of their lives because of the fact that they have to be on a regimen of anti-rejection medications for the rest of their lives. So, considering that your own organ could possibly be grown from your tissue, I would think that once this technology becomes more widely available, it really won't cost any more than the total lifetime costs of an organ transplant right now.

On the face of this , it sounds wonderful, but we need to stop and think. This world is on the fast road to overpopulation. If we keep it up soon there will be famine everywhere. Soon the problem of saving people will becme a choice between babies or adults who can readly obtain new body parts. I am sure I am not the only one seeing this as a moral problem.
