Eventually the inevitable happened. The Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, has resigned from his post.
This happened due to the fact that Italy has a very high public debt spreads and maneuvers of Berlusconi have not been sufficient to redress the loss.
After losing the majority in parliament, the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano has appointed Mario Monti (economist, academic) as the successor to the Prime Minister in order to balance the economic destiny of Italy within the year 2013.
So this marks the end of the Berlusconi government since 1994 through thick and thin has not been able to do their job in all this time.
This Mario Monti, in my opinion seems like a smart person, sure its not an easy task, and maybe we will definitely take the risk that the cost of this operation willbe upon us, public citizens.
We (and I say to all Italians!) can only hope and wait and see.

Berlusconi was always a person who has liked to live his life, who didn't care for the ethics and I think he was never the most honest person, as AC Milan was involved in the Calciopoli match fixing scandal, so I guess he did illegal stuff in other areas also.
I never expected Berlusconi to resign by himself, but I guess he has some honor in himself still.
As for Mario Monti, I know he did some great job in his activity, so maybe he will be able to enlighten the situation in Italy a bit. But I don't understand why the people in Italy and in other countries don't understand that this is a global crisis and the citizens are also responsible for that, not only the politicians. In situations like this the strikes are not a solution, cooperation and collaboration is needed.
