India are in a strong position on the first day of second cricket test match against West Indies played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata despite loosing Rahul Dravid and night watchman Ishant Sharma in final overs of the day. India are 346/5 thanks to superb batting display by India's top order particularly Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Rahul Dravid scored his 36th test hundred and was out on 119 bowled by a lollipop of a delivery from a part time bowler Brathwaite. He and laxman, who remained not out on 73, put on 140 runs for the 4th wicket. Earlier in the day India opted to bat first after winning the toss. Sehwag and Gambhir started well and put on 66 runs in just 12.1 overs before Sehwag was out for 38. Gambhir went on to make 65. Tendulkar started well but could only manage 38. With Yuvraj and Dhoni still to come India are sitting pretty to retain the lead they are holding in the series.

Yes Indians are in a good position after Day 1. Dravid and Laxman batted superbly during the day. There is still enough batting left in indian line up with Yuvi and MSD to come. Anyway India will not lose this test , India will surely win the series.

Despite loosing Dravid and Ishant in the final few balls of yesterday, India have had a battathon session in this test. Apart from Dravid, Laxman and Dhoni also helped themselves to centuries. Dhoni was in sublime form as he smashed a hundred full of boundaries and sixes. With over 600 runs to chase down it was an uphill task for the Windies which was made worse by the two quick wickets they lost today!! Cheers! Ram
