shade he says. Well there are tons of shades tons of sizes. So I went to a site that said either measure the shade top, bottom, and height or 3/4 of the height plus make sure the bottom is more than the base according to little boddie creations dot com. So I printed out what it said because otherwise, I know I will buy the wrong size lamp shade. My husband can "eyeball" things because he works making things all day long for a subway company. I can't see distance worth beans. So I told him to either measure a shade we already have that's the size he wants or measure the lamp up and down and decide how much he wants it wide and let me know. If it's small enough, I'll probably order from the company I found the advice from. If it's too much, then I'll have to improvise. Like buy the parts and assemble a lampshade myself. There are many buy the wire frame and make the lampshade directions on youtube.
Anyway, my husband made a lamp for my brother's birthday, but we don't have the shade for it. There is an article on how to make your own frame for a shade on ehow, but they lost me and another one somewhere else, but you need to be able to sodder or weld with soddering tools and I don't know how to do that. My brother knows how, but I don't know if my husband does or not.
So when was the last time you bought a lamp shade or a part for something to make it an entire entity? Did you bring the lamp with you? Did you bring the part with you? I bring things with me and then let the salesman help me. But my hubbie said if I couldn't afford it, to just tell him where it was. I suppose I could take the lamp with me if I asked him.
He wants an outdoor scene for my brother. I found fishing material that would be perfict on the little Bobbie site. Then I found some material I'd like for me, then some for my husband, then some for my brothers, one's girlfriend, etc. I'd have to spend a fortune if I did that. I don't have a fortune.
So did you ever start shopping, online or off, and find you kept going and going and going.

hello, just want to share that the last time I made a lampshade was when I was in grade school, I made it out of a bamboo pole and I remember I made a shade from a translucent container
, it looked very odd but I won an award for creativity
, like the other post, I would go for bringing the lamp so that you could see the actual, true and right proportion.
We seldom use lampshades now since we changed to led lighting because of the heat the incandescent bulbs emit and it does not last very long plus the power cost here. I do understand how fun it is to create old fashioned and themed lampshades and the different lighting tones and relaxing feeling they give off.

That lampshade sounds interesting.
The last sentence in a last paragraph sounds beautiful.
