A friend of mine told me about the cost of replacement for the water heater at his house, that just scare me a bit. Because I don't know when I should replace the water heater at my home too. He bought a brand new one from Home Depot, and the warranty for this new purchased water heater is 9 years, along with all the accessories, the total is sum up to $750 or more. Plus, the labor for installation is half the price of the water heater if you requested from Home Depot. If you knew someone who specialize in home improvement, it might be cheaper. So, approximately, he paid around over $1000 for it. I just wonder, If I can do it myself, and if there is any instruction I can look over it. I might spend $700 or more for a water heater, but at least I can save the labor cost. Does anyone know?

If you don't have the money now don't replace anything if it's working fine. You never know when they give up, you might be lucky and it might be working for an other 5-10 years time. I think it's possible to save money to do it yourself but the I don't know if you will still have guarantee if you do so? Over here you would not have any. So as long as you don't need something new safe some money each month for these kind of repairs. If the time is there you can always decide what to do yourself and what to pay for.

yes I agree, they know how to charge with a call out fee and the time they take, I must be honest I have a few things done in my house but they will just hqave to wait.
