Yesterday was America Recycles day. Since 1997, Nov. 15 has been celebrated across the United States as America Recycles Day. This is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting recycling. "Recycling is one of the easiest ways to save our natural resources and to 'green' our community," said Lisa Luck Cookeville-Putnam County Clean Commission executive coordinator. In celebration of America Recycles Day, the Cookeville-Putnam County Clean Commission 2011 board members would like to announce a new award to be given each month beginning January 2012. This award will go to dedicated organizations, clubs, churches, or businesses who have set up an onsite recycling center, encourage member and/or employee participation and consciously promote preservation of our natural resources through recycling. Hope mylotters will share their activities.

we recycle every day. in out city in Canada, we are only allowed one garbage bag per week so, we have to recycle. the city picks up our bottles, cans, newspapers etc along with our garbage and our green box (these contain food scraps etc).

Actually I haven't heard of the Recycles Day before. But this is a very good idea and I fully support it. I just think that we have wasted so much and we make a lot of pollution in our earth. Sooner or later we will get a serious lesson. We shall do something to stop it before it is too late. I love China

For me recycling means to put resource to better use. That's the reason I support recycling. I am never a believer of "green" stuff that we should do something in order to save the world... It is not the world that needs saving. It is us. I support recycling because there is a limit on the resources and recycling allow the resources to put into better use and the limit not reached that soon.

Wow! It's a good thing you have that in your country. Here in Philippines we do have strong implementation of recycling also. We also do the segregation of waste, if garbage were not properly segregated, the collector will not get the garbage and just let the owner find their own way. Collector will only collect Non-Biodegradable, all Biodegradable should be in a compost pit, so every household is encourage to make compost pit to lessen the garbage collections.

With the fast pace change in the technolgy, our environment become more and more vulnerable to climate change. Climate chage as it is now, is already irreversible. The only thing that we can do is to slow it down. I am glad to hear that US has this day to promote recycling and help in the advocay of saving the mother nature. I just wish that this is not just a i-day event. If you can ahve it every 3 months thats even better. Also, if all countries around the world will have the same holiday, I think it will make and even more significant impact.
