I just read a news item about a study presented at the American Institute for Cancer Research Annual Conference that breast & colon cancer cases are attributable to lack of exercise and sitting for long hours.
Research from Australia's Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes Institute also found that even breaks as short as one minute can help prevent health complications.
The study urges people to keep fit by taking to exercise like walking & workouts.
The researchers hope the findings will prompt recommendations on working place health, using standing desks and meetings with standing breaks.
What do you make of these findings? Are we subject to such risks? Especially the office workers as well as those freelancers with desk work who may be sitting long hours.
I take regular breaks and go to a rooftop or a balcony for a short walk. What are your habits?

It is true that exercising can help reduce the risk of disease/any disease.Sitting, lying around can cause more because your body is not healthy, weak because not functioning well.Exercise can help you to be healthy, strong, active, more energy..And also eat fruits ,vegetables and always positive happy..Only people ruin their life for not taking care, abuse, not thinking wise..

Very well resonating with the findings of the study and what people who care to stay healthy should take note of. It may sound harsh, but yes, people ruin their life most of the time. Thanks.

yes. Exercises, walk outs are a must. present day--desk work makes people sit in a place and work for longer hours.
I also normally keep myself active by walking simply for the sake of walking. One should not sit in a place more than 20 minutes.
We get neck pain, body pain when we sit and work in the same place.

When in office, I go for a short break every hour to the rooftop open air and when working at home, I walk around i the balcony.
. Even if the study results may have been over projected, it would be in our interest to keep fit.
Thanks for your input.

Well, without the need the news to remind us, most of us know sitting around all day can do harm to our health. But some jobs need us to sit there all the time. And what we can do is to try to have some break and stand up and walk for minutes.
I think for those who work in office all day or those who use computers day and night, should realize the harm and try to squeeze one hour to exercise.Anyway, the health is the biggest fortune we can enjoy.
