Poking is a good concept which is put forward by Facebook. Actually poke means just pinching you.I think it is a good idea which none has ever adopted. This simple things which is adopted by Facebook admin makes Facebook more pretty and cool .

Like others have said, there is no set rule for a facebook poke. I use it to tell people that I said hello. Some people don't chat to me but poke me. I look at it as a way of saying hi.

The poke really only means, "I'm thinking about you". Its easier to have then having to write, and its still showing themselves to you.
Personally, I hate pokes. I think if someone has something to say to you, even if it's just something basic like, "I'm thinking about you", then it's much better to do it through actually talking to them, rather then just "poking" them. Its a cheap, easy way to say Hello.

From what I know, says the explanation, send a poke is like "touch" is not physically person. But now I have not even clear about what it really is. I hope others can give you a better answer.

I don't think it means anything at all, just a way to say "hi" without starting a chat or let someone know he/she is thinking of you, perhaps a way to attrack your attention? Poke back and you will find out what happens
