What is the easiest and organized way to take coupons to the store?

If you do couponing, can you offer your suggestions on how it works for you to carry your coupons with you, have them readily able to put with the item on your list? I am a vertern couponer from back when the coupons were great...like a dollar off one item. These days, most aren't worth it as they are like $.30 off 3 items..not much a savings. But in all my years, I still have not found a good way to keep it all organized AT THE STORE. After all these years, you'd think I'd have it down pat! But I dont!
I have tried the box with the index file markers, wallet things, lists...I am not an "extreme" couponer although wouldn't mind doing that at sll if they'd just tell use where they get all the coupons to do all that! But back to my question...I do about $20-$30 in coupons per monthly visit. I compare the store ad with coupons I collect from a variety of places. Then make my list comparing to the store ad and coupons. Now...taking it all to the store....
I have made out my list, I have matched list to coupons I have and with ads in the store circular. I wrote out my list in department category for easy shopping (I start at canned and end at dairy!) Coupons are in groups matching the list with a paper clip.
For tomorrow, I have my list, the ads (just in case I need verification of sale price of item on shelf or at register) and the coupon groups.
So... what do I carry them in? How can I make this less complicated when i have to search for the coupon, have them falling out of my hands, trying to make sure I have what the coupon says, ....all those kinds of things? I've seen those big 3-ring binders with the plastic pockets pages...but Idon't have that many coupons. And I guess it is keeping it organized for the coupons, while still buying things that I don't have coupons for or are on sale and I buy when on sale even if I don't need it that week and it isn't on my list.
Any and all comments, suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated!

That's kind of what I do..but I clip them according to isle in the store and make my list that same way. Went today...and it was rather cumbersome. Always has been! I did save $16.02 in coupons today, so I guess it is worth it! That's a tank of gas for my car for the week!

When my mom and I would go together I would put my list in the order of the store , but back then we went to a smaller Giant Food. These days I go to this Huge store. I write a food and a non food list but in order of the store? I can't! I usually start in the middle and work my way though. I remembered to us the coupons!

I have used envelopes as well as a little mini 5X7 accordion file that had just a few tabs in it. I would separate the coupons by isle in the grocery store and use it. It was not cumberson and I had a printed grocery list and beside each item I would list the coupon I had for it and the specifics of the coupon... x size x amount off for how many etc. This helped me out a whole lot. Good luck.

I am a firm believer in saving money whenever possible.
When I was doing coupons I made my own little custom carrier with pockets and index tabs. It was about 5 x 7" and had seven pockets and a tab for each of my favorite stores and one tab for all the other stores plus one tab for coupons I didn't have time to sort.
Now I almost never shop at the mainstream markets any more and the discount places where I do shop don't take coupons, so I hardly bother with it any more except for restaurant coupons, and I am thinking of reviving my system just for those. Good luck!

Very interesting. Year ago I used the index card box and had tabs for EVERYTHING to make it easy to find the coupons quickly. Worked good until the coupons became scarce and not worth bothering. BUt lately I have been finding better ones....not alot but worth dealing with. Today I saved $16.02 in coupons and that is a tank of gas for my car for the week! I know what you mean, tho about the discount stores...I shop Dollar Store for lot of things. Coupons used to be so good, now it's "25ยข off 3 cans of soup"...look at others and they are much cheaper with no coupon! But I like your 5.7 size thing and will think about that one. I don't want categories for everything like I used to have...don't need that anymore, but the size and pockets...will have to give that a thought! Thanks for the suggestion
