What is the use of discussions?

Alright. Dont take it literally and jump on conclusions. Discussion are really very important. What I mean here is, sometimes I come across posts, which I dont understand why are posted. I mean like, "something terrible happened to me today!! :(". If something so terrible has happened to you, then what are you doing on internet? Dont you have to do something about it?.. I am not being specific here. I can understand few problems are there which need to be discussed, and what better place can be for discussions than Mylot. But many things need solution. P.S: I dont mean offence to anyone here.

I think it has to do with the right grammar and phrasing or just a way of attracting responses. In such a situation, I would guess maybe that, someone is writing about a past experience but not particular about that day or else it could be that whatever he or she is talking about was something that was able to be resolved within the day.

That is the case for few of them. But many of them mention "today" in it. I am just referring to that. May be I am being harsh here. But its just what comes in my mind.

I don't think you are harsh in anyway. You are free to give your views provided it is not offending to anyone. Enjoy MyLotting.

I agree that this may sometimes be used as a way to catch peoples attention but I think sometimes the problem is that people simply try to hard to post way to many discussions per day and run out of quality things to talk about. There seems to be many people who wrongfully think in order to make money on my lot you have to post a crazy amount of discussions per day and this is just not true. The fact is you can make just as much responding to already existing discussions even if you never posted a discussion of there own. I get very annoyed by these people who post meaningless discussions just for the post of posting them. They never go anywhere and if you do respond to them they never comment or carry on the discussion in any way. Part of the rules on my lot is that we are supposed to post unique discussions and use the search bar to look for already existing discussions on a topic before posting a new one.

Hi curmont, I am sometimes annoyed too with people posting so many discussions in a day. Because I don't see earlier posts of other lotters that are far more interesting than those one person that has posted so much (take note, they posted it all within 30 minutes). And it's true that we don't earn with the posts we are making. We have to make plenty of comments.

If something terrible happened to me then I might want to be here posting about it to take my mind off it. Usually I don't do that though as I come here for fun and wouldn't want to depress everyone else so when anything terrible does happen, I tend to keep it to myself and if I share it, I do so when I have got over it a bit and better times have arrived.

I think sometimes people start discussions about themselves because they want somebody to sympathize with them, or they don't have anybody offline to talk about their problems. I on the other hand, don't like to start discussions about me having a terrible day.

ink that what they are doing is something called sensacionalism, you write something that catch the attention of everybody and then they will feel like to write a comment to your discussion.Because of this some of that kind of discussions are deleted daily.

Hi discussminu, I guess people who have posted terrible things that happened to them during the day are trying to release the tension and stress they feel about it. It does not solve their problem but somehow maybe they do get some ideas from other lotters. Little words from others might help and I think there's nothing wrong in posting those discussions as some might find themselves being in the situation and can instantly create interactions between each other. Although reading those REALLY terrible things sometimes are kinda depressing.

Probably it's an eye-catcher. It's sometimes a stylistic style. It builds on the curiosity of the reader. Or maybe they find myLot as their outlet. Who knows? That's why myLot can really be interesting. You get an insight on how different people from different countries think :)

I understand why people come on myLot and post about the terrible things that have happened to them. They do it because they want to share it with others to sort of give them peace of mind, I'm sure you've heard the saying "a problem shared is a problem halved" something like that. They might just be looking for sympathy or some answers to how they can recover from their experience and on how to fix things. Obviously discussions are to discuss things and that can be anything, it can be personal stuff too. I have come across a few discussions where it's plain obvious that they've been made just to earn a little bit of money and they aren't really interested in the actual discussion. But you're aloud to begin a discussion on whatever you want, whatever crosses your mind.
