I want to make 2 versions of stuffing next week for Thanksgiving. One plain and one different one - maybe with fruit inside? Can you give me some suggestions? Thanks.

I don't know about the fruit thing but what I like to do is shred some of the turkey and add it to the box of stuffing and chop some celery and add a couple of cans of mushroom soup o and some chopped onions too. Then put it in the oven and just warm it up. Hope that os helped you? Have a good day sorry about the fruit one don;t know of any but that is what I do with mine hope you liked it. Have a good ay.

Our family favorite has fruits in it. We take cut up prunes, apples, raisins, and add it to the diced breads mixture with a little moisture added. For moisture, we always baste some of the accumulated turkey juice from the pan in while it's cooking. We don't add sage or onions, like most recipes do, it kind of conflicts with the fruits in it. This is a family recipe from Germany that has been passed down over the years, and it wouldn't be holidays without it. Mostly we use this type when cooking duck or goose, but I have used it in regular turkey and it comes out very tasty. One thing you can do too is to do an internet search for 'fruit dressing' and there's probably some other variations on it, and with different types of fruits.

Whatever you do, don't do what I did about 12 years ago. I had always heard of recipes for stuffing using sausage and other ingredients, so I found one that not only had the sausage in it but told you to add whole fresh cranberries. While I am a lover of canned cranberry and wholeberry sauce, unless you really like a tart downright sour tasting stuffing, I can tell you leave out the cranberries. All I can say is God Bless those Pilgrims if they had them berries in their stuffing!!!

Every Thanksgiving my grandpa always makes what we call potato stuffing. I don't like stuffing so I don't eat it but everyone in my family loves it. I think it just has mashed potatoes with I think the same things you use for stuffing. I'm not sure if I've seen celery in it or not. I don't know for sure how it's made, I just know it's a family favorite.
