Weird Thing That Just Happened With My Computer.........Why?

This weird thing happened with my computer just now. I was working on some stuff online and everything was normal and going well, when suddenly my computer went weird. I went to type in the navigation bar to go to another website, but the second I tried to type the URL, my browser just immediately closed! At first I figured it was an accident. I reopened my browser and again went to type in the navigation bar, again my browser instantly closed. I tried again for a third time with the same results. Then I reopened my browser once more, but instead of trying to type in the navigation bar, I just tried to type something into the search bar (my home page is set to Google). Here again, my browser closed the second I tried to type. I then proceeded to open each of my other browsers to see if any of those would work (I have firefox, chrome and of course IE). No matter which browser I tried, the instant I tried to type in either the navigation bar or the Google search bar, the browser just instantly closed on me. In order to stop this occurrence, I had to restart my computer. My computer is a laptop, a Compaq Presario CQ57 to be exact, and my operating system is Windows 7. Can anyone tell me why my browsers reacted that way?

Everyone's already suggested a virus check but I'll add one other oddity I've seen on a variety of computers: a stuck left shift key. It's *always* the one on the left (no idea why). Whenever anything weird like that starts happening on a computer I'm using, I'll always tap the left shift half a dozen times just to 'clear' it if it somehow got stuck. You'd be surprised how many times that fixes the problem. Weird solution for a weird problem.

Interesting. The next time my computer starts doing something weird, I'll try that. You never know! Thanks.

that happens because most of us are right handed and we prefer to use the left shift, ctrl keys more.

@Spike: In fact it became such a major issue on my laptop a few months back that my IT guy failed to fix it after every thing he had known and could call up! He tried hardware, software, keyboard program blah blah. It became so acute that I couldn't type or use at all-every few seconds that dialogue box would pop up annoyingly. It was finally sent to the store who took three days to fix the whole disk [formatting, re-installing, fragmentation, god knows all.

It seems that your issue is already resolved.. but it is always better to make sure your computer is not infected with any virus or malwares.. try running a scan using some free software like superantispyware, malwarebytes and ccleaner.. works good to remove most of the infections from the computer.. best of Luck..

scan it with anti virus or anti malware. if no malwareor virus on it, the system may broke. reinstall the firefox or other program you use to browsing. if this still not working, reinstall your laptop.

The same happens with mobile devices too, often. And the standard prescription of the vendor [true for the Blackberry Curve I bought] would be to switch off the device, open the cover, remove & reinsert the battery. . And the device would be back to normal. . I guess it is due to bad command execution or cross running of two codes that causes transitory malfunctioning. [This is guess, I'm not a techie by any chance ].

Really sounds like you may have some kind of a virus on your computer. Sometimes when the windows shut down. I just have to use the virus protection on my computer to help get rid of the virus. Then I would have to shut down the computer for a little bit before I can reboot it and start it up again. But it will usually work fine again after that.

If you don't have a virus, trojan hoarse or so then you can try to deinstall IE (or other browser). And install it again. Might be your computer is a bit messed up and the new version will work great. Don't try to fix it/overwrite it. Delete everything first. Windows will always be a miracle.

Because all three browsers reacted the same way I'm going with win7. There was an issue going on, plus you on reboot the problem went away. Not sure of the reason but might just be a conflict. The basics are a program running in windows interacts with windows itself by using shared files and if there is a conflict or illegal op then the program (browsers in this case) crashes (close). Reboot fixes a lot of things but if it happens a lot you might want to look into it further.

sometimes system gets hanged or it may show deviation from normal functioning.its better to shut down your system and restart again.most of the time, this sort outs the problem, if not you should get your laptop to the service center.

Maybe there is virus on your laptop. Just try to install antivirus and scan whole your disk. But, if still like that, reinstall your browser. I think there are some problem with your system. For the last, try reinstalling your operating system. Hope this will help you.

have you reboot your computer yet?? and do you have any updated antivirus? when you work online, make sure your antivirus guard is active so that there's no viruses or malware attacks your software. if that's still doesn't work, try to reinstall your browser.
