I am at the library and I just sneezed, there is like 15 people in close vicinity of me and not one of them said, "Bless You." I always say, "Bless you whenever anybody sneezes." It is just the right thing to do. Do you say Bless you when ever someone around you sneezes weather you know them or not?

The story is believed to be that back when the saying first started they didn't have medical technology we do these days and a sneeze meant a possible illness, back then people could die from even the most minor of illnesses so they started to say God Bles You to send a blessing to that person so that they would not get sicker and if they did they would be blessed by God.

I actually Saloo a lot of times. That is how you say it in Spanish. I used to work in a restaurant and most of the guys I worked with were Mexican so I learned to speak Spanish really well from working with them, and we pretty much only spoke Spanish in the kitchen. I worked there from the time I was 14 till I was nearly 20 so saying Saloo just became second nature to me, of course to a stranger I would say God Bless You or Bless you because I don't know if they speak Spanish or not. I always say Saloo to people in my family though.

As to whether or not you say bless you to a person when they sneeze is totally up to you. Me personally I do say bless you when a person sneezes because I think that it is polite. Now not all people will say it. There are some that do though. Like I said I do say bless you because it is polite. Some people may not because they may not be paying attention or know that it is you that are sneezing. If they do not say bless you then take with a grain of salt cause not all people say it.

i don't say bless you to strangers... but i do say it jokingly to friends and acquaintances so they won't really be offended when you say bless you to them.

I do most of the time to anyone. I either say it in English or in German... I try to say it in German as it's one of the few words I know and we live in an area settled by alot of Germans.

I can't believe nobody said bless you when you sneezed! I always say it. I realize that some people may be offended, but it is a habit and I also think it's a very nice way to say you care about someone, even if they are a stranger. I don't understand why nobody would say it to you. I guess they are just self-absorbed.

I do. Its such an automatic response I don't even think about it anymore. I say bless you every time I hear a sneeze, just like I'll say you're welcome every time someone says thank you.

i do. i make it a point to smile or say that to people that i meet because you might be the only smile they see or the only bless you they hear that whole entire day.

I do same thing before, but not now. I use to believe in many beliefs when I was a kid, but as I grow up and learn about beliefs...I stop saying such thing when someone sneezes
