Should Virat be selected over Yuvi for 3rd test?

I think the choice would be between Virat and Raina for the place in the team. I think Rohit has been drafted into the squad, but his chances of playing are less. But the other way to go might be to rest either Dravid or Laxman or both and give the youngsters a chance. Cheers! Ram

As someone said above, Yuvraj has been replaced by Rohit Sharma. Rohit was just superb in the domestic cricket and selectors picked him instead of Yuvi. I think Virat may play in the final test match.

IF rohit is our test player, then selectors should have opted him in place of virat in the squad from first test. selectors have brought rohit now only, so its fair to give chance for virat who have been sitting with the team for last two test.

ya all these players are fighting for that one spot. Few among these are making the selectors to pick them due to their experience and others by delivering again and again. I think its time to confidently pick some youngster as the test player. any way virat gets the chance lets see how he utilize it.

Logically, yes! But if you know the indian selectors then you know that they don't follow logic. The fact is Yuvraj, Raina, Virat, Rohit and Pujara are all fighting for 1 test spot. And anyone can fill that slot

I agree with your point here. I think that at least for the home series, that should be the general pattern. But I believe modern concepts of team building etc., mean that the team stays together for the whole series!! Cheers! Ram

In this new concept we are resting the youngsters. They need to gain more experience to become a good international player, specially for test cricket. So they should be sent to play domestic cricket. Its ok, that players like sachin or dravid can easily get adapted to international cricket even if they are rested for two or three moths, because they have experience. But for you they will loss the form, experience is less so it may badly affect their cricket.

well raina, virat and rohit, nice contest running.. but I prefer virat for that spot. but i think it will be captains call, Dhoni is capable to take that wise decision,i hope. but I dont, understand, why these players are not send to play ranji, if they are not picked. In past it has been done,after selecting team on first day, if they can play in their ranji team, they will be send their to lay domestic cricket. not only these three players like varun aroon are just sitting in the bench. it would be nice to send them to play ranji if they are not picked. nothing will beat experience, so youngsters should have been send to play ranji instead of simply sitting in the bench.

Ya surely. He is always vibrant in the team. Good young batsman. So he will be the good choice for that single vacant position.

The test is played in india and here we need not to worry about short pitch balls. Rohit is also a good option as he is a genuine middle order batsman but virat is a top order batsman. So that give advantage to rohit

Ya many of us here are hoping so. But he his inclusion shuffles the batting order then it may not be good for the team. So its a tough job set for dhoni by the selectors
