I watched the more recent version of the "Count of Monte Cristo" and I liked it.

I will be taping the next airing for my husband. He won't like it. He has the book practially memorized. He's read it so many times. If there is very much difference between the book and the movie, he dislikes it. This one took quite a few liberties.
So have you watched any of the Count of M. C. movies?
Which one did you like better?
Are there books you liked better as books and books you liked better as movies?
What old and new versions of movies have you watched? What books turned into movies that you've watched?

Almost every movie I have watched based on a book that I have read has turned out to be disappointing. The first one was Flower in the Attic by V.C Andrews and talk about being sad after seeing it. I know they can't fit every little thing in to a movie though. The next one was IT by Stephan King. Wow...what a book and then although the movie versions was 8 hours...it still didn't really give the book justice. I wasn't quite as disappointed as I was with my first though. I think the movie that give the most accuracy to the book would be The Road by McCormick. It was pretty true to the book. King's stuff has been the most stuff that I have read and seen though. You know his books are very long and detailed. It is hard to fit it all in.

Until the Harry Potter Series, I have to say I agree with you. Although I liked the C.S. Lewis Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe pretty well, I think both left out things, esp. interpersonal relationships that you miss my not reading the books.
Stephen King has written a lot of books. Have you read all of his? I can't do horror or really scary.

Probably not all of them but alot. I did read everything that V.C Andrews wrote until she passed and a ghostwriter was hired by their family to continue her books. It was never the same after that. The stories were always similar but never the same as she wrote.

I think so too but it is apparently pretty common. I had never heard of it until the V.C Andrews thing. At first I thought she was losing her touch but then I realized that something wasn't "right." I researched it and found that she had passed. That ghostwriter was hired by the family. There are still books coming out with that name but written by someone entirely different. I love to write and there is no way that I would want anyone to use my name or to write under someone else's fame. It's weird to me.

I've read lots of books that have been made into movies. I read Count in college, and while I don't remember all of it, I do remember enjoying it.
However, it is hard to put a whole novel into a movie, since any movie can really only handle about a short story's worth of information.
I think the Goblet of Fire and Half Blood Prince were a better movies than books. In part, LARGE part actually, because we didn't see the house elves and the Elf Liberation Front stuff in the first and that Nevil gave Harry the weed that let him breath underwater and that he found the Room of Necessity.

My husband and I read the Count in high school. He read the English version and I read the French version for French class.
Iloved the Harry Potter movies. Amazing. I think I liked the first one best because everything was so new.

I have seen the old version movie of Count of Monte Cristo. Very much liked it. Books and movies ? Well, I have read the movies and the novels "Anna Karenina" and "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy. Very imrpresed indeed. Leo Tolstoy is one of my favorite authors.

I've only seen the 2002 version of Count of Monte Cristo starring J. Caviezel. I enjoyed this movie a lot. I haven't read the novel and had not seen other version of this movie. If the storyline is the same, I think this is a nice movie to watch.

I like both for different reasons. The old one goes with the actual book better. The new one has a happy ending and I could use one of those right now.

I've never watched this one. I read the Three Musketeers and than I saw the movie and I was like That is not what happen in the book. That wasn't like that. He didn't die there.
I really didn't enjoy the movie because I was so hung up on the book and I kept comparing everything so I'm glad I didn't read Lord of the Rings because I would have probably done the same thing.

As a reading teacher, I always like it when people like the books better. Then they usually want to read the books. Take care.

I read the novel when I was about 14 (I think) and really liked it. I've seen two film versions so far and didn't find any of them quite as fun as the book. The better of the two, in my opinion, was the one made in the 1930's (I love old movies). I honestly can't think of any books I've liked more as movies right now, but there must have been some. When I really like a novel, I tend to enjoy the movie as well, if it's a decent effort. It gives me the opportunity to re-live a great story. "Pride and Prejudice" is an example.

My husband liked the 1930s one, too.I don't remember what age I was, just that it was in high school and that we read the French version and watched the French version.
I will have to watch "Pride and Prejudice" as a movie some day.
