What is a special item on the lunch or dinner menu ?

MyLot is indeed a wonderful community with members from countries around the world. It is always very interesting to learn about one anothers' ways of life. And, that certainly includes the foods one likes. My interest now is regarding special items on the menus people enjoy. For me, when I go to restaurants for lunch or dinner, I would every time start with a plate of salad. That is indeed one of my favorites. I have been to Thailand a few times, and I noted that "tomyumkung",a soup, is a speciality. What about for you ? What is a special item on the lunch or dinner menu ?

Hi Greenline,
I live in Maryland. Crabcakes are a specialty that Maryland is known for. I just love crabcakes. When I go out to lunch or dinner, I always order a crabcake sandwich. Crabcake sandwiches are served with french fries and cole slaw on the side. Crabcake sandwiches are absolutely delicious!

Hello Manda. How are you ? I have been to Maryland, to Baltimore, a very nice city. But, I missed the chance of having crabcake. I will remember that. The next time I come there, I will make sure I won't miss the chance. Thank you.

I don't go to a restaurant and then see if I will like something , it is in reverse. I Have to know they have either a burger or a pizza or I will not go. So 95% of the time by the time I walk into the restaurant , I know what I want to eat.

I love buffets. I can try a little something and not waste too much food if I don't like it. I think that is how I tried pizza for the first time!

That's why I enjoy buffets. I could choose only the items I would want to eat. I am not a vegetarian, but I do prefer veggies to meat dishes. When I go to buffets, my plate would always be more that half-full with veggies.

Hello Sarah. How are you today ? Sounds like burger and pizza are you favorites. Well, of course, there would be many choices for restaurants. In fact, I am thinking of going to a restaurant serving buffet dinner this evening.

Hey friends i like anything which my mom cooks but the special items in my menu is water..???? wondering how?? actually my mom serves food in dining table and calls for lunch or dinner but, i always sit in hall see tv and eat so i take the food from dining table sit in hall and see tv and eat with remote in one hand, and i always forget to take water, so i call my mom and ask for water she says always u are forgetting water why cant u take tat an lots and lots but after scolding also she takes water and gives it to me.. this is what makes water a very special item in my menu.
The other items i like a lot is chicken, pizza, cheese, pickel etc..

That would be very nice to relax and enjoy lunch or dinner while watching TV. May be if you would keep a stack of water bottles in the hall, that would be quite convenient too ! Have a nice day !

hi greenline I am an A merican, actually a C al ifornian too but I love Italian food and spagheti with Italian meat balls and shrimp scampi are some of my favorites. also I love steak well done with a baked potato with sour cream and chives. my idea of a great breakfast eating out is hash browns,eggs over easy and rye toast with lots of hot black coffee. I also like to start with a salad
too.

Hello Hatley. I like Italian food too. Spagheti with meat balls ! Yup, that's my favorite too. Eggs over easy, pancakes with honey and butter, oh yes, I like that very much.

Popular food for lunch is a soup and salad. There are variations like soup and sandwich or a salad and sandwich as well. Dinners here are quite heavier though. There are a variety of restaurants from different cultures here to choose from. I like the Chinese Buffer here very much. I like trying new things and if I see something I'm curious about, I can try a little and see if I like it. I guess one of the most popular dishes here that is traditional would be Steak and baked potato. Pizza is also very popular...there are alot of different kinds of it now to choose from. My personal favorite right now is Chicken Alfredo Pizza. Oh..it is so good. It has a white sauce on it instead of a red tomato sauce. I know how to fix it at home too...it is actually very easy.
Anyway...I do love a good salad too...I am crazy about Ranch dressing on it although I know it isn't the best thing for me..lol.

Hello Jen. That's very interesting ! There is a huge Chinatown here in the city, with many very nice restaurants. I go there quite often to enjoy buffet lunch and dinner. You are invited to enjoy a delicious Chinese buffet !

I live in India, and when we go to a restaurant, I usually order North Indian foods like battura, bhel puri, chaat, paav bhaji, biriyani, pulav etc; yummy, you made my mouth water

That sounds very delicious. I have tried Indian foods, and I like them very much. Bhaji means vegetables , right ? When I go to Indian restaurants here in the city, I order puri with bhaji. That is really yummy, yummy ! Thank you.
