My daughter is suffering from stomach ache and she is throwing up. Someone used to tell me that gatorade can be used to replenish lost body fluids due to lbm and puking. My question is, can it be given for children 3 years old and below? Any pedia here or anyone who may have asked it from their pediatrician? Iwould greatly appreciate your response.

better than gatorade: 1tsp salt 5tsp sugar per 2 pints of water or diluter orange juice this drink should be taken in short sips as needed.

Thank you for this information. I used to hear that gatorade is just a mixture of salt and water. If I may ask, where did you get this information?

i recently saw on the news that if you are dehydrated dont have water or brand name gatorade. water will not hydrate you it will just go right through you and gatorade has a ton of sugar and if you have diarhea it makes it worse but since she is throwing up i dont know if it will hurt or not. maybe some salt in water? they always recommend pedia-light (sp?) as being the best for any dehydration situation

Hi stuckonu. I'm sorry about your daughter. I hope she's feeling better now. My whole family got sick a few weeks ago. We were also throwing up and were too weak to go to work. I don't know if Gatorade is safe for kids. But try giving her some bananas. When I was sick, that was the only thing that I could eat. Anything else made me nauseous. Also, let her drink lots of fluids.
