Recently we opened a thrift store in my retirement communtity. It is made up of volenteers of the retirement communty. All the monies goes back into the comminity. These are all used items that people donate as well as in unit sales from appartment vacancies. So far we have done well. We are always open to new ideas about the thrift shop. The store gives people a chance to get rid of stuff and the oppertunity to get a great bargain.

Excellent! I absolutely love thrift stores. It's cool that yours consists of volunteers. Does that mean it is a non-profit thrift store? I would love that in my neighborhood. We have a lot of thrift stores that are "for-profit", and not to sound cheap, but the prices are a bit more expensive than you would expect from a thrift store. Sounds like a cool place you've got.

That sounds awesome! I love going into little thrift shops because you never know what neat stuff you will find, and it is always at a great bargain price. It is even better when you know that it goes back to a good cause. We have one in my town and all proceeds go to the battered women's shelter. So I always try to go in there when I can and buy a few things. Every time I go in the women working there are so kind!

That was a great idea and thanks for sharing. Doing something for the benefit of the many is really rewarding. There are thrift stores that are called thrift because they sell good that are actually bad. I will probably initiate this thing in our community as well but I'll do it as an extra income for my family and for the people who wants to sell their old stuff.

That is wonderful. Yes, indeed, that helps people for giving away the things they do not need any more, and at the same time helps the community. I have been donating to thrift stores in my community things I no longer need. Always nice to see volunteers working there !

This is such a great idea! I wish more businesses would give back to their community. I really love what you are doing and I wish you the best of luck.
