What is considered to be a lot of views on writing sites?

Like many mylotters, I am with a few writing sites. The one that is working best for me is Associated Content. I now have several articles published there.
What is considered a low number of views per article and a high number of views per article. My best article has received over 300 views but most of them currently have 40 or 50 views. But I am new to AC as well as other sites. I have only been with AC since early August. And some of my articles have only been on the site a month or so.
One has received over 100 views and I think that that will improve because it is about a very popular music festival that will be taking place in March.
So, I am curious. Am I average or low. I know that I am probably not high. I am talking about the average person for these types of sites, not the power writers.
And I am talking about any of the writing sites, not just AC.

I would say you're receiving an average amount of views because my blog has just reached the 300 view mark and I feel it is not really skyrocketing in traffic! If you could, I would suggest you recommend people to read your writings, or at least broadcast your writings list (resume or profile) so that you can get the word out of your creations.
In my opinion, once you start hitting the thousands, you are receiving a good amount of traffic and you have better chances of acquiring referrals and/or more traffic to seek out your site!

I am trying to get my writings "out there" but with very limitted success. I am not good at networking. I have read articles on AC that got hits in the thousands. How do they do that? And in some cases, my writing were better. I feel frustrated.
Where is your blog? And how long have you had it? How do you promote it?

Thanks for the info. When I can find the time, I will try to look into the book or books. I do not have that much free time. I now understand what SEO means.

Thank you for making me feel upbeat and positive. I was wondering how I was doing when compared to other everyday folks.

I don't know if I should really do this but hey, what the heck, there's no money info. Here's a screenie of my HubPages page views per article.
Bear in mind:
a) these are all 2-3 years old.
b) none of them use SEO
c) they were written waaaaaaaaaaay back when I didn't know diddly about traffic or anything, so not even the titles are optimised
d) they're mostly just stuff I threw on there that is published elsewhere so views may not be entirely indicative (they may get more on one of the other venues)
Some are popular (the French thing especially), some are not. It should give you an idea of how things vary.
Personally, I agree with the 300/month opinion (although, as you know, I don't really do rev share). 10 hits a day sounds like a nice average. Considering my blog gets about 50-60 hits a day (and is a lot more useful and a lot more work), 10-20 visitors on an article ain't that bad.

OK, I hacked a lot out of the image to make it smaller. Let's try that again.
Editors are always odd. I sometimes get rejections from Constant Content for expressions that are perfectly acceptable or even words that are in the dictionary. Nobody's perfect, I guess!

Thanks for the screenshot but I am unable to see very much. I have a busy day and maybe tomorrow, I can try to magnify it.
My best site is AC but they are getting stingy about upfront payments. I have been submitting what I consider to be some good stuff and being denied upfront payment over and over. I publish for views only. And I am getting hits. One is getting very popular. I have had over 100 hits and expect more. The article is about a big music festival that will be happening in March. I think that I will get more hits as we get closer to the festival.
I do not understand anything about SEO or optimization or traffic.
Re AC and upfront payments. I get the feeling that whether or not you get upfront payment is very subjective and not objective. Who are the editors who decide whether or not you get upfront payments? I got some in the past but none recently. I get what I consider not very good reasons for being denied upfront payments. I have a feeling that there has been as management change or a policy change about upfront payments.
I like AC a lot and am getting close to my 1,000 views and my $1.50.
Thanks for all your help by the way.
