Have you ever been in a marathon? Was it for charity? Did you have to invest or raise money to participate? Did you win?

I ran the NYC marathon, you need to pay en try fee and application fee, but other than that you don't have to raise money or anything. Some people do run marathons for charity; they often want you to raise a certain amount of money.

I wish there were some marathons where you didn't have to pay anything, I'd like to do one but am sometimes discouraged by the fees you have to pay.
