Hi friends although English is not my mother tongue but I have been studying and speaking it from a very young age . English was my first language throughout my educational career . My mother tongue was my second language and our country's national language was my third language . Later I studied German as a foreign language .I am most comfortable in speaking and writing in English . I love my mother tongue but I must admit English is my heart and soul . What about you ? Which is your favorite language and why ?

The medium of instruction right from kindergarten to my degree was English. After English I am more proficient in Hindi followed by my mother tongue.I did study French in college but never continued and hence have lost touch.English is my favorite as level of proficiency is high and i love reading all topics of interest in that language.

For sure all of us would be comfortable using our national language but there are those having a hard time when it comes to grammar even with their own national language. I have an experience in my own country that those rich, elite people are using English as means of their communication inside their house and so they struggle hard in school using their own national language most especially the lesson is all about grammar. They believe that getting very well versed in using English is an advantage in adapting the socialite's world most especially they belong to the affluent class.I myself, I am comfortable using my own native language for I can express strongly what I want to impart and point out. But still English is helping me a lot in my interaction that I need to study it better.

Being that I am born and raised in the United States, all I know is English. Besides the Spanish class that I took while in high school, I don't know anything else about any other languages. That would be probably something to try to learn about though. Glad to hear that you studied English from a young age, and that it's your heart and soul.

hmm... I like my country language, because it's the very easy language I can speak. As long as I studied English, Korean, Mandarin, and Japanese, I began to blend them. Hahaha... But, I didn't study Japanese well, so I rarely use them. I usually use some English when talking, because honestly, there are some words in English that I know better, or hmm... I think the english word first before my country language, so that's why I use them. heheh FAVORITE LANGUAGE : Korea, because I become a fans on their drama!!

like you, i'm educated in english and my mother tongue is my second language. everywhere we go, most of us converse in english because of the multi-racial society i'm in. however, i still feel most comfortable conversing in my mother tongue. it's so much more expressive than english. there were so many times i just couldn't find a word in english to describe how i feel or how beautiful the moment is. there are so some local sayings that only my mother tongue can capture the essence of the situation. as for writing, i must admit that not writing in my mother tongue has made me a less effective 'writer' as i forget how to write quite a number of words. if i have to write something only in my mother tongue, i'd need to use a dictionary for half the time...

First of all my favorite language is Spanish I grew up with it, my second would be English I speak it all the time...then I read Portuguese...and Italian and I understand them quite well my parents were born form European parents but grew up in South America that is why my mother language is Spanish., But I have to say I Am comfortable with both Spanish and English I like to read books in the original language they were created and is nothing better than reading Don Quijote in Spanish and Romeo and Juliet in English.

I was born in Singapore and lived on this island nation until I got married to a Malaysian man. Malaysia is just across the causeway from Singapore. While I was growing up in Singapore, I studied the English language as my first language even though my native tongue is Malay. Malay is the national language of Singapore but the official language of the country is English so every citizens on the island has to learn the English language as their first language. The language I'm most comfortable with depends on whether it's written or spoken. I'm more comfortable speaking my native tongue, Malay but I prefer to read English language texts especially technical manuals. I don't understand technical manuals if they're written in Malay because I learn most technical terms in English so when it's translated to Malay, I don't know what it means. This happened when my daughter was in school. I learned Mathematics in English. My daughter learned it in Malay so when she asked me about a Mathematics problem, I cannot help her because the Mathematical terms used in the text books are all in Malay and I haven't the slightest idea what they mean. So the language I am comfortable with depends whether it's spoken or written. If spoken, I prefer to speak in my native tongue since I'm staying in a country where the majority of the people speak Malay. When I speak English to them, they don't understand me so I got used to speaking Malay. But where written texts are concerned, I prefer to read English texts.

English is my favorite language. It is a rich, interesting and beautiful language and it enables us to really express how we feel. I know enough Spanish to be able to converse, but since I am not using it now as much as I used to, I tend to forget some of the words and have to look it up. "If you don't use it, you lose it." I'm trying my best not to lose it by talking to our dogs in Spanish, which they seem to understand.:)

Spanish is my mother tongue, but I must admit that I feel very comfortable with English, as I have been studying and speaking it for years! I have also studied French and German, but I don't have the command of the language that I do have in English. I must say though that my favorite language is Spanglish, that is a mixture of English and Spanish and that would have to be the best there is for a few in my family!

Glad to meet you here sylvia . I too do not have that much command over German which I learnt earlier as I do not communicate often . We too speak a combination of English and our mother tongue at home . English is the dominant language everywhere I suppose as they ruled the world at one time . Thanks for sharing your views . Good wishes

Of course I love my very own language first and foremost my favorite language is the Pilipino language. There is no sweeter language to use than the language of my motherland. I know English is an important language but still I believe I am happy and more comfortable using my own language instead of the borrowed one.

I am a Filipino and our national language is Tagalog but sad to tell you that I never find it comfortable to use our national language. We are quite fragmented considering Philippines is an archipelago. Each island has its own dialect and all inhabitants were used to their own dialects. But as nationalization is concern we all understands as Filipinos with Tagalog language. I consider myself multi-lingual. I spoke English ( my most ever confortable and daily language.), Arabic ( for I worked in the middle east and daily with the arab nationals) Spanish ( for my family came from the spanish roots.

I am purely PILIPINO and i came from the northern part of the philippines... And so my mother tounge is TAGALOG which happen to be the national language here..but since we have many islands to live by too many dialects was there and i learned 2 more dialect which is VISAYAN and ILOCANO. whenever i am at those island i keep on talking to the people with their dialect..i communicate very well and its makes sense using the appropriate languages or dialect at the place where it is to be use..like in myLot that we need to use english because common in international conversation to use it.. I Love my mother tounge its my favorite languages..but if it will help to communicate better in other tounge..i will study and use their language for our both convenience..
