Ok its time for me to get off this little machine and finish what I started in cooking for tomorrow!
I feel exhausted and still have to finish up dishes.
Oh well take it one thing at a time and it will get done.
Still have to make 2 different kinds of cookies and 2 pumpkin pies. Sure glad I made the cornbread last night!.
Gotta run to the store and pick up three things I forgot I was close to running out of. And I thought I had everything!

Sounds like you have been busy. I just got done cutting up butternut squash and apples. Added brown sugar and cinnamon and popped it in the oven. I will make a few more things, so when we get home from Thanksgiving at the Sister-in-laws we will have something to eat for supper, without having to cook.
Have a wonderful afternoon and evening Marie.

Hi Marylynn!
Bird just went in the oven. I let mine slow bake and it always seems to turn out moist.
I know how you feel. I used to go over to the Ex husbands parents every year but I had 5 children and a husband off so I still always had to make the bird anyway.
Everyone was off for 4 days so while its a lot to do at least I finally get to sit down for a bit and let them eat leftovers!
Hope you have a wonderful day don't eat to much!

I hear ya, we always go to my husband's side of the family for most holidays since we got married 39 years ago. Needless to say I think that is why our kids don't come home for holidays, they see us elsewhere. So can make for miserable holidays. They have their own lives and I don't think they realize how it is for us at home. Oh, well don't get me started.
By the way the oven bag makes a very moist bird. We tried it years ago and we have never made it any other way ever since.
Hugs

edsss there you are! you made me laugh.
I just put the turkey in the oven its 10pm and have my clock set to check on it til its finished.
The end product should be me serving my husband on a platter!!!!
He works within the government(not political) on aircraft and gets every holiday there is!
So I should stick HIM in the roaster pan and take a pic cause while he gets off I am the one running around like a chicken with my head cut off like the poor turkey LOL
Hope you have a blessed day!

I would be exhausted, too, after all that. I don't have to cook this year. My sil has to catch a plane in the early evening, so my brother and family will not have time to drive all the way to our house (about 4 hours one way) and get back in time. We contemplated meeting at a restaurant in the middle, but that means we would travel at least three hours and they would travel about to just to sit down and eat for an hour or so, since I'm sure they will be trying to move people out as quickly as possible.
Besides that, it'd supposed to rain, which will slow traffic even more. My sil will order a turkey dinner from a local market and reheat it, and we will go out. It's not traditional, but I was feeling very tired today and just didn't have the energy to do the turkey with all the trimmings. So I gave my husband a choice. I will feed him salmon if he wants to eat at home or if he wants turkey he can take me out. We are going out, and that's fine with me. I'm thankful either way. Sorry we won't see my brother until Christmas, but sometimes life is like that.

I hear you. I finally had to take a couple hours off myself and come in the bedroom and just watch a movie. Just put the bird in at 10pm. Will make the stuffing early in the morning and baked beans and mac and cheese and I am done.
I may be so rude as leave the company to eat and I come to sleep LOL
I have Fibromyalgia so I never know til I get out of bed if I am having a good day or not.
Thank God he gave me my major back pain Sunday and Monday!
But at 5pm I just felt drained and realized I needed some quiet time.
I have to remember (Fibro thing) to check your discussions out more to reply to.
I always enjoy hearing from you.
feel you are more a friend than just a mylotter!
Have a wonderful quiet and peaceful day!

Marie, I'm sorry you have so much to do when you are in pain. I didn't realize you were dealing with Fibromyalgia. How come they are expecting you to cook the dinner if they know that? I think the Pilgrims had the right idea making it a potluck. The person who does the turkey shouldn't need to do all the side dishes, as well. I will be praying for you that you will be feeling good enough to enjoy your company.
As to being a myLotter, I'm finding that I am more drawn to discussions of some people than others as I get to know people better. I'm not myLotting at such a frantic rate as I was at first, and in picking the discussions more carefully I find myself enjoying it more. I do try to follow your discussions if I know anything about them, for I consider you a friend, too.
