There had been debates about genetically modified crops, Greenpeace is againts GMO because a lot of them had been bad for the environment, a lot of them have negative effects to humans and animals, as in not safe to eat.
50% of produce in the USA is GMO, I know some GMO are good, Like the purple tomato, which fights cancer.Purple Tomato is the good face of GMO,cos it only used Plant Dna from harmless plants like eggplant and beet, DNA
But there had been GMO food that uses DNA and gene of animals ,viruses and bacteria, a lot of them were said to be harmful and not safe to eat,
but people eat them cos they were not aware.
Some GMO helped farmers to have a good produce to harvest, while some of them destroyed livelihood of farmers.
I really dont know what to think about it because there is a face of GMO that is positive and there is a face of GMO that is negative.

I avoid GMO as much as possible because it isn't good for us...Problem is, in America, it is not mandatory for companies to put that on their label, so I am part of a group who research to find which company uses GMO and alerts me.

before I have a huge trust with American products but after all this GMO controversy, I dont know. Our agriculture in our country might be using old technology but atleast we have less GMO products, Most soybeans in the USA are GMO, majority of American processed foods, have soy. before the gmo era, less Americans have allergies with Gluten and soy, but the numbers increased.
NON GMO vegetables and fruits have a label that they were not GMO. sometimes its better to have your own veggie garden.

I did a survey about 3 weeks ago where it showed all over the world, other countries put on the label if a product has GMO, so the survey was on whether or not I think American companies should also..Of course I said yes, because people should have a choice and if they choose not to buy GMO products, that is their right.
As for growing our own veggies, I do try to plant some, but unless I grow a lot more and can them, I only have a 3-4 months growing period. Plus some communities are getting picky about people making a garden. I saw a video where the town was going after this woman to remove her garden because it was in the front yard. Sure most are in the back, but from the video, her veggie garden looked a lot better than my front yard. I think if someone keeps it looking good, they should be able to plant wherever they want.
You are also correct, before GMO and other artificial ingredients, Americans didn't have the allergies they have now. When I went to school, I knew no one who was allergic to peanuts. My son on the other hand, has at least one or more students in his class allergic..

sprouts are the easiest vegetables, You can harvest them injust few days and the were very nutricious. The only popular sprout in mycountry is the mungbean sprout but I learned you can sprout other beans and seeds too. I just have to make sure first though that the seeds are not GMO, the cheapest seeds that can be sprouted are sunflowers,Popcorn (yes but it has to be raw) Pea, peanuts.
there is less gmo in my country for now but there is an incident when the American Company Monsanto (Monsanto makes all the pesticides and GMO food in the US) donated GMo corn seedlings, it makes a whole village sick cos the corn have virus or bacteria DNA and infected their breathing air.

Maybe it is better to have the good one and throw the bad one. We cannot say that it is not ok better to not have it..because all things that we have had a positive and negative outcome..just take a research and use whats the thing that will be on greater use for you.

apparently majorities of GMO's have negative effects to the human body, It is even blamed tothe obesity outbreak of the United states cos majority of food Americans eat are GMO, they have no choice cos its majority of grocery foods.
