I have experienced the problem when working with small company who own by family. They run the business for about three or four generation already and they really want to dictate all employees about everything..Even the small things must have proper procedure, their way.. For example, they want to have lunch together with their staff every day in the meeting room..Actually, it great things for those are new to company but for the senior it will be very boring activities just listening to head of company talking about them selves and their family and sometimes they are also asking about the work task in this forum..What do you think about this activities? Have you experienced some kind of this activity?

i think it is a good habit for a company, having luch together with bosses. i know, it will give little pressure, ut i think it reall make a good realtionship between staff and the boss. it will make you closer with your boss and it will make the company become warm. in where i work, i take a lunc only with my friend,. i want my company do something like that. something that interesting to try i my company i think. it will make my relationship become better with boss.

I think the company lack knowledge about the welfare of their employees that they have to work with it to retain their employees.

I have not worked in a family owned company. I am the consultant of one, but not really an employee there, so the treatment is different. I guess about lunch with the bosses, it would be advantageous only if the lunch is on them. Otherwise, if you have to bring or pay for your lunch and endure an hour with them, what's the point?

I have ever worked for a small family company. I quit from the job, because it was very boring. I now am working for foreigner who runs villa on here and I like working here, because they were not ever involved in their business. We run the company for him and he all agreed to what we do. I am happy working at this company nearly two years and the boss never complained with the way of my work.

I've worked in the company too in the past. And every week we have to sit and eat with the bosses and all the other staff. They usually order foods and were still talking about the work or nonsensical things. It can be so annoying sometimes when I feel like going back to my station since I am done with the food. But somehow I can't because the boss keeps talking

Hello Yes I have similar experiences with you in my previous job. I resigned when i felt that I am no longer happy. If I were you if you are not anymore happy with your job leave it and find another job that will make you happy and comfortable working with.

It's a stark contrast where I work. Also private owned, but they almost have no relationship whatsoever with the staff. except maybe on Christmas when everyone is forced to be nice to one another.LOL

I haven't experienced working for a family-owned company, but I've learned that it does function a bit different than multinational companies. Usually they tend to micro manage since they're basically hands-on on the operations of the company. But having lunch with bosses in the company I work for, and even in my previous employment, is something a lot of people covet. Bosses don't usually ask their employees to lunch unless they've done something great for the company which the bosses took notice of. The closest probably to what you're experiencing is when we have working lunch. We usually do this every two weeks and discuss strategies in a casual manner.

Hi, I am with a family owned company but managed in a professional way. So her, the boss invites his team for joining the lunch. Mostly the Head of the department and the second lines do join them but then we have always found our bosses friendly and professional when they are out of their cabins.
