Cowboys and Aliens

When you go to see this movie called 'Cowboys and Aliens,' you shouldn't expect high art. But if the film itself has problems with taking itself too seriously, that spells trouble, mainly because when you have five writers that's never a good sign. Still somewhat fun entertainment.
The background score at many places in the movie are really complementing the old western cowboy sequence.
For me, I couldn't accept the logic, that in the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. Aliens were not given proper detail.
The best thing to be said about Cowboys & Aliens is that it looks beautiful.
Beyond that though, Cowboys & Aliens is the cinematic equivalent of a flatline.
A lifeless film that’s criminally plot driven and filled with surface characters, underdeveloped relationships and plot holes the size of the Wild Wild West. But, hey, at least it looks good. So don't miss the Wild West Action if you like a Mexican Standoff :-)

I have just finished downloading this and planned on watching it tomorrow. I am glad a read this before hand, so I don't get my hopes up too high. I had only seen the previews and hadn't spoke to anyone who has seen it, so my expectations were mildly high. I will just expect to be disappointed and then maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. I will check back in after I watch it.

I watched this film 2 days ago with my friend. It's not my favourite kind of movies and it was weird in many parts but I watched it because my friend wanted and it was his turn to choose a movie.
I found many scenes that were not matching in the movie. One that I can think of was during the fight scene at the end of the film where those aliens were everywhe and in the scene where one of the guys die, for 5 minutes everything is quiet like the fight was happening somewhere else.
In the beginning I have to say that it was interesting but then I found it meaningless long. It wasn't bad but nothing special in my opinion.

Yeah, i agree to your point. They didn't give much importance to story value, for eg. Why the Aliens need Gold, Where they came from? or are there still more left ?. Action was given more adventure. The one thing i liked in the movie is the Western Cowboys were shown with perfection. The fight scenes were really good by their own and not as part of the picture..
