My CD drive is not working well and I really need to format my computer. I think the only way to format it right now is using a flash drive with windows but i have no idea if its possible or how to do. If someone would be kind enough to help me i would be glad :)

You can try all the suggestions that was posted here. I've tried formatting my computer using USB flash drive and it worked. You can also consider borrowing CD drive from a friend (if they can) as long as you know how to detach and attach it and replace your drive before you format. Make sure you return it afterwards.

I just had to do a total restore and was given the option to use a flash drive. So, I guess by that, the answer to your question is yes.

@wydtron: I believe it can be done. Assuming that you flash drive is more than enough for Windows OS, you can simply put in the flash drive in the port and restart your computer. Just change your boot sequence by putting the USB device as the first in the sequence instead of the HDD. If you do the steps correctly then I believe it will boot accordingly and you will be shown the installation interface. I would be glad to help you just in case you need more help.

I am not sure about it but I heard my brother says it is possible to format it. He's having a Netbook and since we don't have an external CD-Rom drive before, the only way for him to reformat his netbook is using a flash drive. He has done it once before too. As long as you have the files then I guess you can do it.

I believe its possible but its quite risky,,that's why its not advisable to do that not unless you take the risk as that's the only option you have..
