Homosexuality on the rise

Societies have different perceptions on homosexuality. There are those who strongly opposes homosexuality but have growing populations of closet queens.Others societies have develop acceptance for homosexuals that gays have even holds higher job positions than straight individuals. Here in the Philippines, those days when homosexuals are ridiculed are gone.Gays and lesbians are having their rights and present themselves in public fairly well.As a result, more people believe that they are gays. Gay couples holding hand in hand is a common scenario herein in the Philippines. There are gays whom you can even mistakenly identified as women because of the way they dress and carry themselves. Some men even preferred gays than women because they make them financially secure and thinks that women are financially draining.I think the number of real men are diminishing that they are almost instinct. As a result more women are becoming spinsters and some are engaged in relationship with married men maybe because of more numbers of women compared to men.I think this cause a chaos and social imbalance. What do you think is the cause of the increasing number of homosexuals? Can something be done to prevent social imbalances?

I highly doubt there's an increase in homosexuality - it's just that it's slowly becoming a more accepted thing, and more people are comfortable coming out about it without having to deal with the social ridicule they would have faced in the past. As such, it probably just seems to you that there's an increase. There's no social imbalance to it.

I don't think that there's any increase in the number of homosexuals. It is simply that it is now more acceptable to be open about it than it used to be. Changes in social attitudes happen because of wider coverage by the media - TV, movies, newspapers and the increased use of the Internet. More and more, gay people are thinking of themselves as humans with a right to be the way they are and to be proud and open about it. This may be disturbing and unsettling to conservative members of society and those whose religion teaches them that it is 'unnatural' and 'wrong' and therefore sinful. That is what is actually causing what you describe as 'social imbalance' and, in time, it will pass.
