unpacking

Our plans to find a bigger house to rent have changed...we were sent a lease renewal notice so we are going to stay here for at least another 6 months...now i have the wonderful job of unpacking our many boxes which is turning out to be hard because we don't have any storage space here - not even a linen closet..i do have a cupboard I can use but it's full with boxed at the moment lol. I started unpacking today & lo & behold, I have already listed a few things on freecycle...the sooner they go, the better as i can definitely do with the extra space...there are a few more things i have found to list on ebay & that will happen but probably not until I have the freecycle things gone...there are a few more things I want to list on freecycle but hubby wants me to hold off until he's home on days off...he's back Monday so hopefully he says to get rid of it...it's only a mismatched dinner set so i don't see what the problem is. Do you ever find more stuff to give away or sell when you're unpacking after a move?

I usually sort through everything before I begin packing and get rid of stuff I don't want to take first. Last time, I had a garage sale and then I called in a second hand dealer and then I took the rest to Vinnies. The time before, I moved then had the garage sale then called the second hand dealer. I learned it was MUCH better not to take the stuff with me and to get rid of unwanted gear before I moved.

I went through my stuff before I left & got rid of heaps through garage sales & giving alot of stuff away...now we are in a smaller house that has less storage, i am finding I have more to get rid of now that I'm unpacking

I have been here for 6 years on the 19th and I still have 2 cartons of books to be unpacked...lol. They are old so of no value but I cannot bear to throw them out. They are in the bottom of the built-in wardrobe in my guest room.

Sounds like you have some reading to do If you don't want them & can't bear to toss them, maybe offering them on freecycle would be a good way to go unless you can part with them.

Hello there! How have you settled in now that you have been there a while? We did the same thing when we moved earlier in the year. Not only did we hold a garage sale and freecycle loads of stuff before we moved, but we kept giving stuff away after we moved as well as we realised that this house did not have the same amount of storage that the last one had. We have also had a stall at a car boot sale and need to have another one as we still have things that we do not want. Whatever is left after that one, we might just give away I think. I am selling some of the stuff on Ebay as well.
