Bad Pooch

I have got a rescue dog and i love him to bits but we are having problems with him when we have to leave him in the house on his own. He barks once and then howls for a whole minute afterwards. We have got him an anti barking collar so now he scratches the door..Someone please give me some suggestions..Your help is needed

What is an anti barking collar? Sounds cruel. Little animals are scared to stay alone. Give him unwashed clothing of person who care for him, when will stay alone. Give him toys. Give a box of chocolates to neighbors :).
