I found a recipe and for the life of me cant remember now where I found it. But bake a cake and get a matching container of frosting that goes with it. When the cake is still warm crumble it up and mix the frosting in with it. if you have a cookie baller or melon baller you can make the mixture into balls. Get some almond bark and melt and dip these cake balls in the bark. you will have a bite size cakes and can add sprinkles, nuts, or any other imagination. My first try I used strawberry cake with the strawberry frosting. It turned out awesome. And then you willnot need plates just a napkin to put your cake ball on don't even need forks since they are bite size. Kind of like the Petite Fours with a twist. Gonna make some for Christmas.

That's a neat idea! Something new for Christmas. I don't know if the CakePops at Starbucks are like that. I think they are, just that they put lollipop sticks.

Hi gloryacam these are a bit different because you are mixing your frosting in with your baked cake while its still warm. then you dip them in the almond bark, white chocolate, or colored chocolate pieces. Good Luck if you try them.

It was fairly easy. I just did not have a cookie or melon baller so I used my hands. Made it a little sticky but hands wash and I am always cooking so I am not afraid to make them by hand. I saw a cookie baller at Target a couple weeks ago and it was 10.00. So I think I can turn them into balls by myself LOL

Kinda reminds me of cakepops.I like making petits four they are so dainty and very meticulous to make "no more than an inch, no less than an inch" . So the frosting that you use is butter cream right? since it hardens... They would be so adorable if you but them into mini cup cake liners =D...

You could use the mini cake liners after you have them completely made if you wanted. I have a plate I put mine on with a cover so guests can see them and get them as they want. I use the mini cake liners for my husband that has diabetes. That is the right portion for a diabetic to have a piece of real cake or muffin. you can also get those silicone mini cup cake holders too. I got some heart shaped ones for valentines day a year ago and make my husband banana nut muffins he likes. Perfect size as I said for a diabetic portion.

hi marie oh my that does sound delicious but wonder if it can be made with splenda or nutrasweet as I am a diabetic and thus have to watch the sugar content specially frosting wow. wou ld probably kill me unless it was sweetened with something other than sugar. I hear stevia is really a good use for diabetics as its natural and does not take a lot to sweeten things.

you can make your cake mix with splenda. and you could use your frosting to be splenda too. In fact I am starting to notice some frostings in jars are putting some with splenda. The Almond Bark is the only thing I don't think you could use for splenda because its already made you just soften it and dip the cake ball in the almond bark. Ours turned out realy good. Now I want to try one with carrot cake. But before I DO ANYMORE of these I think I will make a pineapple upside down cake. I eat that for breakfast.

I like cakes very much and this recipe looks very good to me. I baked yesterday a simple chocolate cake but what you did was a bit more difficult. I am still thinking what for a special cake i go bake for christmas.
