Maybe, it depends on the interest!

While browsing different discussions and I saw several similar discussions. I have already accepted the fact that we can’t always avoid starting similar discussions. I’ve noticed that one particular discussion can be more popular to another similar discussion and I think it depends on where you have started the discussion. The same discussion can be more popular and can receive more responses if placed in a popular interest. Of course, the more people who have chosen that interest the more people would be able to see your discussion, whether they are your friends or not.
So I think, the success or the number of responses you get to your discussion may depend on what interest you have posted it in. Do you agree with this?

I totally agree with you my friend. If you have a topic, that interests many Mylotters, it would indeed get more responses. I noticed that everyday experience in life would get a lot of responses, because different people can relate to it.

hi red amethyst I have found that t o be true too also if I find a common issue that I have that a lot of other people have I will get a ton of responses to my discussion. You need to think what things do
we all have in common and go from there in making good discussions. it always works trust me.

yes, i agree with that Amethyst.
i have started my third discussion under general discussion and i received few discussion. comparing it to tagging the discussion under it's appropriate interest column i would have more response if it were tagged properly.
with that i have learned my lesson and i should not be lazy tagging the discussion if i want a great number of participants for my discussion.

Of course I agree with this!
I typically try to post my discussions in the interest groups that have the highest activity and membership because I want a majority of the myLotters to be able to read and respond to it. If the interest group that my discussion is based off of has a small (lower activity and membership) portion of myLotters present in it, then I may choose to host the discussion in the general section instead. This will hopefully increase its view count, popularity, activity, and longevity!

Yes, I agree that this it can be very difficult to find an original discussion as there are so many discussion subjects been on myLot over the years. I tend to be interested in personal development through Zen, but there is only so much I can discuss about that particular subject, but Zen can be added to most subjects, and that is very useful when responding to other people's discussions. Of course, Zen is a way of life and not a theory or belief system as such, and to know it, one needs to practice the discplines.. But I think there are many other ways to find something original to say.. I have often thought about looking through my photos - each one of them tells a story of where I was and what I was doing when I took that photo at the time. So.. your discussion has helped me to think about how I can start discussions myelf.. That must be valuable so thank you...

Yeah, i agree
That's one reason why i often see discussions appearing in the wrong interest group when it's not supposed to be there at all. There are even some mylotters who starts everything under the same interest, either to gain more response, or trying to be the first among the leader board.. haha
I'm actually not too bothered about it, unless it appears too often, asking me to join that group, whenever i respond to their post.

Hello red amethyst.
I, first of all, reply to my friends topics when I have the time and mainly when I finished with them will I search for other topics. When I do answer to other topics I get them from the categories of discussions like " hot, no responses, new user, recent" not by interest, but I do agree that, to some degree, you are likely to get more answer to a popular interest in favour of a rather unknown one.

definitely not the case.
sometimes much depends on our interests.
merely a debate if it's set up properly in the correct interest.
I totally agree with you.
Thanks for this discussion.
nice day!

I do agree with interest category being a consideration.
I like how you used both words, success and the number of responses. I’m usually more interested in quality and a successful discussion for me is one that say answers a question I had or one that made me have another perspective and sometimes it is just a really good discussion that makes my day better. The number of responses is not often my goal in fact sometimes I find large discussions too intimidating to go into if I’ve not been active in them from the beginning.
I feel some topics like say “how do I do searches in mylot” need not be repeated over and over - I find them boring - but some topics like say, “how does supply and demand affect our economy” are non-ending topics that can be discussed a thousand different ways (interests) and are not really duplications but similar discussions from different perspectives and interests? Do you agree?

yes,i can't be avoid.even if you are have many different ideas, maybe you will have an idea the same with somebody.when i skip the discussions i always see many similar questions and repoonses.but in fact ,life is always to copy itself too.nothing is undifferently in the world i think.including your face ,mind and behavior and your voive ,hehe so on.
