when the LORD heard people building the Babel tower, He confused their language and made them not understand each other. Didnt the LORD want people to be strong? But the LORD blesses people. is it contradictory?

Welcome to MyLot! Your conclusion seems plausible if we only read with the physical eyes, understand with our physical minds, feel with our physical hearts, etc. The previous responder offered one good explanation as a myth to demonstrate an important teaching. There is very often throughout the Holy Bible, a great number of such instances which we should be very careful of before we take them literally. Do not let your understanding give you a false impression about God - that's very important. God always has the wisest, best & most loving plan for his children in the highest sense, which we often fail to see, but is always for our lasting benefit & blessing. So no, this situation is not contradictory - we should check our own understanding. Too often, we find God gets the blame when the consequences of our actions catch up with us. We see this frequently throughout the bible & should pay attention that we are able to discern these things correctly or our understanding about God & the world around us tends to suffer as a consequence. Finally, & this has little to do with the question you posed, but this story contains some really obvious translation errors. Most noticably, is the mistranslation from the Hebrew texts of “The Lord [Hebrew: Yahveh] said ... Come, let US go down,” etc. And thus, some 2570 times in the bible the plural, elohim, gods, is used in the Hebrew texts, but is always falsely translated “God” in the false singular, when speaking of the Hebrew deity, Yahveh. So, our understanding regarding God is very much lacking, which is not totally our fault, but it is in another sense if we fail to read up on these things further rather than just open the bible, read it & then close it again. There are centuries upon centuries of literary & theological wealth which I would encourage you to read up on so that your understanding may be full.

to this story and I know. Perhaps the Lord confused the languages ??of the people because it is decided. I think it is nice so we know more languages??. and we can get along with other nations. simply everyone should know his place. nice day! interesting discussion.

Yes, but the languages are too many to learn. The translation task is so heavy

Luckily, with the help of education and technology, people are able to find translators to help them, or they can access translations of different texts, or have their computers translate things for them. This could've been reached a lot sooner, but scientists kept getting killed off, until governments were finally established that allowed people freedom of religion.

Apparently, he is not too fond of teamwork. It sounds pretty contradictory to me, especially given the fact that Christians believe that it is their duty to spread the word of the gospel. Wouldn't it be a lot easier if they could all speak the same language? I also know a lot of religious people that have learned foreign languages. Is this going against God's will? The thing that blows my mind is the fact that people still think that humans could build a tower to heaven. We have been to space. We know how vast it is. Why would God be worried about it in the first place? Since he has endless magical powers, couldn't he have just *poofed* the tower away, or moved heaven, or something? Did he change the location of heaven? If so, why didn't he mention it? Is the Bible not literal, but allegorical? If so, is it the entire book or just parts? How are the people supposed to understand which parts are to be taken literally? Doesn't the church teach it all as literal? Yeah, I've noticed that there are a lot of gaps.

The Lord was kind of offended that people were doing whatever they can t surpass Him. They have become arrogant and anted to reach the heavens..they have not used their freewill well.

halu! i just want to share this idea... God confused their language because God knows their motives and He don't want those people to build that tower because of their wrong motives. And because God loves us He did that He don't want those people experience what lucifer did to Him. Because those people don't know if they do that tower they will be God's rival and possible they don't praise God at all. God didn't question how strong that people are because He knows the ability of His creatures. He valued most and loved us most, He don't want us to fall into fire because of our stupid ideas. He keep us away in that idea that is why He did that. ^_^ God bless ^_^
