My son is in Grade one already and this is the third time that he would join the school’s educational trip. When he was in Nursery, I didn’t allow him to join the educational trip because of tight budget and the destination doesn’t fit the price for the trip. Good thing this year, the destination is the same destination when he was in Nursery (though this is different school already)
Do you always let your child go their school’s Educational Trip? Why or why not? Did you ever accompany your child in one of their trips? How about you, did you ever join an educational trip when you were still in School?

My mom always allow me to go for education trips, no matter how tight our budget is. She believes it's good for my learning, but she didn't realize i'm only actually there to play, fool around with friends. Well, we are kids back then, and it's an eye opener for us, so it's only natural to play around.. haha
Back then, education trips are not as expensive unlike now, education trips can even be overseas and that's something different now.. hehe

Educational trips are mostly enhancement learning activities for students. For graders, these trips are more on exposure to a particular place, things, etc, that were discussed in the class. If the teacher requires the mother to go with the child, its more on the safety but the hidden agenda is , to establish a bond with your child, letting him feel that he is important. These things are very important in his growing up and exploratory years. This is the stage where he has a lot of questions that need to be answered. Since the teacher cannot accommodate all of them altogether, parents/mothers will do that to their kids.
I used to teach kindergarten. The educational trips we had were all school-based and that it is related to the subject matter discussed in the classroom. We just don't organize it just for fun. Aside from fun which is the secondary purpose of it, there are lots of educational objectives being realized by doing that. It is effective in teaching the children if they have seen, touch , smell, taste, etc. the objects being taught to them. As I have mentioned , it is a very good moment to have a bonding with your child with fun and excitement. they may not fully understand it well but the feeling of excitement and adventure is something that can stimulate their learning and their interest in schooling.

Going on school trips is one of my children's favourite times in school. I have allowed them to go on every trip. The budget on these trips are affordable so far so I have never stopped them from going on these trips.
I let them go because they enjoyed these trips so very much. My sister says that it is a different experience when they go out with their friends/classmates, compared to when they go out with heir own family.
I have never accompanied any of them on their trips. I want to but the trips always fall on a bad time.
Its the same with me when I was in school. I have never missed a school trip. They are the highlight of my school life. I guess my children take after me.

Oh yes! As always, I let my daughter to join in their school field trips... always with me of course. And it happened also that me and my husband go with her in their school field trip, serves as our family bonding too. At 10, she's now in grade 4.
I want her to enjoy her school days and I think those educational trips will be cherished as well by her when she's grown up.
During my school days, I was deprived to enjoy those due to financial inability and I remember my mother to be soooo over-protecting (to I don't know whom *lol) to the point that she's being paranoid that something might happen to us her children if she will let us join in that field trips. We just make a humor about my mother's actuations... that, that is the effect of so much caffein in her nerves *lol... so in effect, I want my children not to be in the same shoes with me. I want her to enjoy her days.
What's nice to my daughter is,... she's giving her best shot in school so we give also all we can as her parent to the best of our limitations ... we give it with love!

My daughters are both honor students and they need to join the educational field trip yearly. And yes I accompany them, when they are both in elementary grades, I don't have problem because I could accompany them both in 1 bus only. But since the oldest is in High School already, I find it hard sitting in a bus with my youngest daughter, and my oldest is on a different bus with her classmates and adviser. And because I am a working mom, a field trip is one of the rare occassion wherein i could travel with my children and have fun and learn with them. Usually the first half of the tour are purely educational one and the second half is for fun and entertainment.
For the last question, No, my mother does not allow me to join field trip because of tight budget.

Yes I send the kids on the trips. My husband has gone to one of the trips. I did go on the trips but not all of them. I send my kids because I don't want them left out from their friends, as I was left out from many of the trips as I got older in school and that was no fun.
