What do you think about Esperanto?

Esperanto was a new concept in the past and at that time people hoped that it would become to be a global language. However, today few people know about it. I remember my teacher ever told us that she chose the right decision when she selected the foreign language. She chose the English rather than Esperanto. She said it would be a trouble if she learned Esperanto at that time as this language seems to be useless today.

Esperanto was considered for some time to be a peaceful means to link with the world, especially during the cold war period. Now that direct contacts are available, I really doubt if it is of any value. But funny to share with you, as it is the easiest language to learn, I taught several of my colleagues in just one week, and they all passed the second foreign language exam while applying for Achdemic Titles. That is about twenty years ago.

Even if it is easy to learn the language, but it can't become to be a global language anyway.

I heard of it many years ago,but know nothing about it.The person who first invented it was full of good original intention.I don't know why it hasn't caught on to the date.Maybe It is harder to study than English.

Wow, that is a blast from the past, I remember fondly a school friend of mine back in high school, looking back he was a true linguistic and had a real brain on him, he was always learning languages and became quite fluent in all that he learnt, I remember also he took up Esperanto and again was fluent, I never saw the point to be honest, to people actually speak that nowadays? Even then it was hardly heard of. Impressive as it was, it wasn't a skill that would go far, but he certainly did, he went to University and became a language tutor! I marvelled at how easy he found languages were, I couldn't even grasp French as a second language! Thank you for the reminder. I wonder how he is now, some 30 years on! But I will never forget him especially when Esperanto is mentioned!

Perhaps it is too difficult to find someone who speaks in Esperanto.

I think as the the own name says: it will bring it hope. I love English but it's not really fair to be the essential language to we to speak because it's in favor of those who already speak, now a language created now and mixing all cultures of the world, that can be beautiful and easier to learn to all of us.

I think that the economy has a great effect on the language.

I am not surprised to hear that. Perhaps the elders will know more about it.
