I ma in the process of buying a house and have had a great friend gift me with two chashiers checks that I was using to put a down payment. It turn out that the chashiers checks are fraud. The friend who received them had her step mother commit fraud by signing her dead husband's name to papers that kept the money from becoming avaliable to us. There are four of us that will be living in the house. I am the one on the mortage under the GI bill. We have gotten hold of thelawyer from where the chashiers checks came from and he is going to try to get atleast part of the oney sent up (the rest is being held up until the court case comes up. I now have to hopefully come up with $6000 to pay for the deposit and the inspectors, lawyers etc. Have you had any experience like this. If so, explain what you did or if not expain what you would do in this circumstance.
