I want to buy some new bedding but have only ever had poly cotton & cotton sheets. Is silk nice to sleep on? I guess it´s expensive but I´d buy it if it was worth it. I spend a third of my life in bed!!! I don´t fancy satin (it´s too hot here right now!)

I sleep on flannel sheets summer, and winter. Keep you warm in winter, and cool in summer. I lived in florida 26 years and a friend told me about flannel sheets!!! nothing better Try them, I dont think you will be disappointed.

Though silk sounds luxurious, cotton (whether flannel, terry toweling or plain) is more comfortable and best of all the bed stays made if you make it properly - hospital corners and all. Silk is too slippery for sheets and not so easy to launder. And soooooooo expensive too.

Silk is slippery!! I have slid right out of bed before, lol. It's very pretty but inconvenient if you actually like sleeping, lol.i prefer the t-shirt material sheets,That's actually what they're called and they're very soft.My gf likes cotton.

I would definatley recommend the flannel as someone has already but also teddy towelling. When you have teddy towelling sheets you jump into bed, rub your legs everywhere wheile going argh really loudly cos it is just so nice. Lol.

I looked over at luxurybedsheets and got a wealth of great info. I am going to buy some new bedding as well, so thought it'd be a good time to update my knowledge. I really like the feel of jersey, and it is a nice weight for winter and summer.
"Number of threads woven horizontally and vertically within a square inch of fabric. Finer threads result in higher thread counts. The weave is tighter making the fabric more downproof (to avoid leakage). The light weight of finer threads allows for greater down loft(fluffiness) and breathability of the comforter in order to maintain an even body temperature."
I also found this out, which is interesting: "A fine, lustrous, long staple cotton grown in Egypt. Long staple cottons are more expensive than the commonly available cottons, because they are synonymous with quality and have a higher thread count."

I love silk and satin sheets, they are very nice. HOWEVER, do not where silk or satin pjs. you will slide right out of bed....been there, done that.

I have never had silk sheets but I have heard they are hot as well. Personally, I like the t-shirt material sheets. A high quality cotton sheet with a high thread count is the best bedding I have ever had. I believe the set we have now is 300 count, but they go as high as 700. The higher the thread count the softer the sheets, but the more expensive the sheets.

silk in s nice. but only if you are in a cold place. for a hot place cotton is the best. the synthetic variety is not too comfortable.
