I'm scared to wake up in the middle of the night...

..or at 3 am, since I have heard a superstition that if you wake up at those times, it means a monster is glaring at you or something. It may sound ridiculous but waking up when everyone is asleep and everything is still an silent can be really freaky. Especially if I have to go out to eat or to the bathroom.. Does anyone feel the same way?

I also feel the same way. Since I have watched the movie "Exorcism of Emily Rose" I always freak out whenever I wake up in the middle of the night especially during 3am! If I wake up on that exact time, it would be hard for me to go back to sleep. I become paranoid and hear all these things around me. It's so scary.

That is why I never watch that film...since I used to wake up at 3 am or a little after it since I watched Amyityville horror which happens at 3:10 am I think.. And I don't even have a working clock inside my room so i won't be sacred of looking at the time.

I haven't had that kind of fear even when I was a kid. Probably my mind wasn't that imaginative :) Or maybe I don't usually watch horror movies. I gave this advice to my son. I mean, for him not too watch scary shows especially before going to bed.

That is my problem, although I easily get scared, I still enjoy watching horror movies and scaring myself, even in the morning i still remember what I watch until it's time to go to bed..

OK! I have your solution. If you wake up in the middle of the night only to discover a monster, send them to my house. I could use a little snack in the middle of the night. Yummy!!

I use to feel that way but I don't anymore. I noticed that when I am thinking about it, I am more scared but when I am thinking of something else then I am not. I went to the kitchen one time and I did not feel scared at all. the hallway was really dark and stuff but it mean nothing to me but when I started to think about bad things then i became scared. I think we are the one who scare our self more than anything really. Just try not to think about it.

Nope I don't believe in that. In fact I am awake sometimes til 3AM. Whenever my insomnia attacks I would be awake also til 4AM or have no sleep at all. When I fortunately sleep earlier than the usual time I sleep, I will be awaken many times... that is because I pee several times in the night. I don't feel scared at all or think about any monsters. But I do get scared waking up in the middle of the night if I woke up from a nightmare. It's all in the head sometimes, if you think about it - the more you will be scared. From now on, you have to believe that those are not true.

Hello Lady... I agree with you, it can be creepy... I have faced these fears... Especially, when I'm stressed and depressed, I am prone to fears.. Whenever you feel scared, remember God and everything will be fine... I do the same... The name of the Almighty gives me strength... Take care...

No, there is nothing like that.I regularly wake up everyday around that time and do not feel any fear.Don`t listen to all such superstitions. You are an educated person and should not be carried away by them.Superstitions are the creations of the uneducated and foolish and uncivilized people.so be calm and composed if you wake up at that hour.In myreligion,Hinduism, that time is considered as a holy time and people sit for meditation.when you wake up at that time your mind is frsh from good sleep and is uncluttered by the previous days happenings.so this is the best time to meditate on God or whatever.Concentration is at its highest at such a time and you will benefit greatly if you sit and meditate.

I do not feel the same way as you. I do not feel afraid, if I have to wake up at night, or have left the room. I am not afraid to go into the kitchen, toilet, or out of the house. I do not believe in ghosts, or whatever it is. I feel, nothing to fear.

These are all superstitions my dear, made by those who want to scare especially the young ones. I guess this dates back from our great grandfathers who were also made to believe that those really exists. And supported by people who have great imaginations and make stories about them. It's a profitable business too whenever producers made it into films and making it more believable to the viewers. It's only in your mind, don't let your fears scare you, face it head-on and stop imagining things that don't exist. Have a nice day my dear.

I was bit of scared . because there were some scary movies ore stories or something else , but still i managed to live true it :D Now i wake up even walk out in the dark from time to time around the garden . I kind of felt alone from when i was a child and got used to darkness and loneliness :) Not like my parents ever left me , but in general way toward the rest of the people of the world :) I think i'm way over it now :)

In my Personality Development class, my classmate asked the question that if you wake up in the middle of the night, somebody's looking at you. My teacher haven't clear it out if its true or not. I don't know what to believe since I sleep so late already. And I wake up late too. Just don't make your imagination wild my friend for you not to be afraid. Of course it would something freaky because it is so night already and its dark.

Sometimes I feel the same way, but then I understand that we are not the only one in here, this is a spiritual world too, so is not only about human, there are spiritual living creatures that are near us, and are moving and living their spiritual life at the same time that we are. THe bible talks about that. But we don't have to be scare because they can't do anything against us and all what we have to do if we feel scare is reprend them in the name of Jesus.

Sometimes i lost my good sleeping by some distractions, mostly after 1 am. I used to sleep alone in my room. The room will be with the darkness. I feel very scared in such situations. At that time i used to cover my whole body with a bed sheet and used to pull my head below a pillow. At this time i used to pray to god to help out me. Because of the darkness i doesn't used to get up from my bed. Is any one is like me?

hi lady I do not believe in those silly superstitions so when I wake at 2or 3 am I just go to the bath room, drink some water'an hpe; to get back to sleep.Educate people know these superstitions for rubbish and do not let their imaginations run away with them. Think about something really pleasant then you can fall asleep again and dream peacefully. superstitions are utter nonsense so do not believe in monsters. you should have done away with that when you were a child. lol

Yes for sure! I really hate waking up in the middle of the night. Your answer maybe true about monsters looking at you. My biggest thing is that i know that there are spirits in this world, and really hunted houses. It doesn't matter if your house is new or not, it can become hunted just as fast as an old house. What I am most afraid of are those noises you just can't explain durring that time that your setting up in your bed. You hear them and you really want to pretend that you didn't, but still you can't help to think that the devil himself is roaming around in your hallway. Waiting to take you away when he catches you up getting a bite to eat from the refridgerator.
