Why I Don't Have TV.

I have a TV set, but it's just a monitor to play games and watch DVDs... So why? Well, it all started back when I went disabled. Money was tight, and we had to dump all the family expenses that weren't necessary. Since cable is far too expensive anyway, we decided that was an easy choice. Fast forward to a few years ago. My health and our income level improved so we got to bring on a few luxuries again. We looked at all the things we had to give up because of our reduced budget.. we decided not to renew our cable service. We simply didn't think it was worth the money, even though we could now easily afford it. What does that have to do with politics? During the salad days from the late 80s to the mid 00's, our government had all sorts of money for a myriad of luxuries. Since most of us were living pretty well too, we supported a lot of the extras. However, the last few years, our nation's financial health and wealth took a dump. Almost all families had to cut back on things, but our government just kept piling on the extras. While they told us we need to tighten our belts, they were popping their buttons. They not only refused to "cancel the cable", they added premium channels. Then they noticed that there were things on Dish networks that they couldn't get on cable, so they added that... and while they were at it, added a Bose Surround Sound system.. and handed us the bill. It's time for the elected officials to cut the cable of luxuries. Our budget can't afford the basics of food, shelter and clothing right now, so what are they doing borrowing money to finance their entertainment?

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a sneaking suspicion that Obama and his ilk want to see the US go under. Why else would they keep spending money they (we) don't have? That's the only way their actions make any kind of sense.

Looks as if I put my rant in the wrong place! I hate the way my mail provider puts the last posted discussion first, I often miss something I could have caught if they were in order. And I always forget to start at the bottom! Yes, Congress wants us to tighten our belts but won't practice what they preach. I hope that next year all the bums that weren't voted out this year get the boot. At least the nefarious Mr. Frank will be gone at last. Now if we could get rid of the idiots that voted him and others like him into office!
