I decided to make myself some eggs and toast this morning. While the eggs were finishing up in the frypan, I put the bread in the toaster and noticed that the butter was a little on the hard side. So I put some on the knife and held it above the toaster to soften up... Yep! Slid right off the blade and into the toaster! So, what idiocy have you been up to today?

I thought I was the ONLY one that did things like that!!! I saw a butter dish the other day that keeps stick butter semi-soft so you don't have to worry about the hard butter problem. The top section holds one stick of butter. The bottom section is made to hold cold water & you place the top section into the cold water so the butter doesn't get too soft...yet it gets soft enough to still be able to spread easily. It would look nice & be convenient on the dinner table...or next to the toaster. I'm thinking about buying one of those for myself for Christmas!!!

I know... I think it said cold tap water. My thinking is that the cold water keeps it from melting. Then you leave it out of the fridge & as the water becomes room temp the butter softens. Then you pour out the room temp water & refill with cold water & the process keeps the butter soft...not hard nor melted. They made it sound so easy!!! Guess that's why I wanted to think about it some more BEFORE buying!!! I mostly use tub butter, so maybe I'll test it without the fancy bowl to see if it comes close to working.

This time of year "room temperature" isn't quite warm enough to soften butter -- at least, not in my kitchen.

Yesterday we had a brand new bed delivered. This morning I spilled tea and orange juice over it.....

Think I would have warmed up the knife under warm water rather than try and soften the butter. I do that before I ice a cake, run the knife under warm water. The only idiocy I've been up to is staying up until 3am watching wedding dance videos on You Tube. For future wedding reference, the Evolution of Dance is so overdone. Time for some originality, something new.

Everybody. There are tons of videos on You Tube of "first dances" where the bride and groom or the wedding party put on a show. They can be fun to watch, but not when everyone uses the Evolution of Dance for their routine.

hi BarbaraPrz oh I have been having trouble with my mouse going off on me so like my son last night I unplugged it and replugged it in and it worked for awhile. but I guess I did not plug it in right as it again went out on me.So after several attempts to find the hole it belonged in I got the flashlight and got it back in and so far it appears to be working okay. My son was here last night and he did the first unplug and replug and it worked okay last night but this noon it again shut down . so now I do hope its going to continue to work great again.I was so unnerved after all the trouble I had the past two days I was shaking but I think its going to be okay now. we shall see. How did your toast turne out ? lol

My toast was under-toasted as I immediately popped it up when the butter fell in. Which reminds me, I still have to clean it out.

Really, really late last night, I decided to take a bath. I was very tired, but my back and shoulder muscles were hurting so bad, I felt that if I took a long hot bath, I would surely feel better. While I was taking my bath, I reached over to grab my face scrub. I didn't pay much attention to what was in my hand, I just squeezed the "face scrub" onto my hand and commenced to scrubbinh my face. Soon, my face began to feel really cold and tingly, a feeling that was not normal when I washed my face. So, I quickly rinsed off my face. It was at that point, when I began to smell the minty scent, that I realized that I had just washed my face with toothpaste!! On the bright side, the pimple on my face were almost completely cleared up when I got out of bed this morning, and my face felt quite smooth.

The first thing that i would do when i go to the kitchen to prepare for breakfast, is to get all the sandwich fillers including the butter from the fridge and put it in the dining table. That way, after an hour when we take our breakfast, they have already soften for spreading in our bread. But sometimes, when i have forgotten the butter, i would simply put them still hard, in my bread and toast them a bit. Yummy! Oh, my friend sometimes accidents do happen. But what is important is next time around we will know better.

Well not today but last night I was making my husband one of those frozen pizza's that he loves so much when the timer on the oven went off. I didn't want it to burn so I ran to the oven & started to slide the pizza out onto the cardboard box it came in so it could cool off a bit. All of a sudden the pizza some how flipped over onto the box dropping melted cheese & sauce all over the oven door. Needless to say my husband went out & got himself some McDonald's hamburger & fries... LOL

i"m afraid I haven't felt well enough today to get into much trouble, since I've not done anything except get a batch of chili in the crock pot. But I did forget to get the beans soaking last night until I was ready for bed and had to jump out after getting in bed to do it so that today dinner could cook itself. I hope your toaster episode didn't start a fire. Thanks for starting such a fun discussion to make me smile.

Oh, they were soft enough, and I rested too long while they were simmering and they got a bit too soft. But, the chili is still delicious. I fact, I think I'll have more a little later.
